OK, so this review has to consider that my one-night stay was only SLR3,500, and I was upgraded to a 'suite' (I think I was the only guest at the time). The place is a little tired. My room furniture was old and there were a few tears here and there. The bed, although nice and big, was a little 'lumpy'. There was no wardrobe, but there was a clothes hanger. The shower- head fitting was broken (but there was plenty of hot water). There were also quite a few ants in the room. With its elevated position, the view was good (as long as you didn't look down!), and there was a restaurant (Marinate) a 2 minute walk away, which also had good views. If you took a walk into Kandy, it was quite a steep road to get down and back up. About 10-15 mins to the lake. Maybe it was because the place was empty, but when I woke up early (around 05.30), and thought I'd go for a dawn walk, there was no-one at reception and the door was locked, so I physically couldn't get out! When staff were around, they were all pleasant. So, for a one-night stop, it was 'fine'.
