We stayed overnight in this quaint hotel in the beautiful Gasterntal. It is about halfway between Kandersteg and Selden at the end of the valley. The hotel in an old chalet is simple, with no electricity or showers, and was very clean. We ate supper and breakfast there. We were not given any choice about what to order, so even the vegetarians were served pork Schnitzel. Breakfast consisted of good coffee and very stale white bread. The people running it were not friendly to us. If you want a cute, homely place to spend the night (there are 4 double rooms, sharing a toilet and basin) with an amazing view and cowbells, it's good, but you might not be too impressed with the food.

We drove up Gasterntalstrasse and took the opportunity for a delicious lunch. The map is not very extensive, but perfect for a break. We received friendly and excellent service!
