This was my second visit to Lake Lodge Kandalama, and this time I came with my family. Just like my first stay, everything was perfect – nothing has changed, and that’s a good thing! The same warm, welcoming atmosphere greeted us from the moment we arrived. The staff are absolutely wonderful – always smiling, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can really feel the personal touch in everything they do. The peaceful setting by the lake is breathtaking, and it’s the ideal place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed, offering great views and a real sense of tranquility. What makes this place stand out is the consistent quality and the heartfelt hospitality. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic escape or a family wanting a relaxing retreat, I highly recommend Lake Lodge Kandalama. We left with full hearts and unforgettable memories – and we’ll definitely be back again!

I stayed at Lake Lodge as a solo traveler and had a truly fantastic experience. The team was incredibly helpful and friendly – they went above and beyond to organize day tours for me to Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, and Anuradhapura. Everything was smooth and well arranged, which made exploring the area stress-free and enjoyable. The food at the lodge was also excellent – fresh, flavorful, and a great mix of local and international options. The whole team made me feel very welcome and safe throughout my stay. I couldn’t have asked for a better base to explore Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle. Highly recommend Lake Lodge, especially if you're traveling solo!

We had a wonderful stay at Lake Lodge Boutique Hotel Kandalama. The setting is peaceful and beautiful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms have an old-style charm but are thoughtfully arranged and very comfortable—especially the beds, which ensured a great night’s sleep. The food was absolutely amazing—every meal was a highlight! Compliments to the chef and the entire kitchen team. A special thank you to Pulasthi, the chef, and all the staff for their warm and attentive hospitality. They made us feel truly welcome and taken care of throughout our stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a serene retreat with character, comfort, and fantastic service!

Un séjour inoubliable !!! Tellement de choses à dire mais commençons par le principal : le personnel et le staff. Ils sont d’un professionnalisme, d’une amabilité, d’une gentillesse, d’une chaleur humaine incomparables. Chacun contribue à ce que vous vous sentiez comme des princes mais sans que cela soit guindé . Quelques exemples : on vous tire votre chaise pour passer à table, on vous dépose votre serviette sur les genoux, lorsque vous dînez, quelqu’un vient ouvrir votre lit dans votre chambre et déposer des petits gâteaux …et je n’ai pas tout dit … Il ne faut pas oublier le chef dans tout cela qui vous propose une délicieuse cuisine qui se renouvelle chaque jour. L’infrastructure elle-même invite au calme et à la détente . Tout est fait pour que vous soyez confortablement installés mais aussi pour que ce soit un plaisir des yeux avec toutes sortes de petits détails qui passent pas des lumières, des plantes , le dressage des tables, la décoration des assiettes , les chambres … En toute honnêteté, c’est le meilleur hôtel au Sri Lanka dans lequel nous ayons eu la chance de séjourner. Un grand merci !!!

My friend and I had a beautiful overnight stay in Lake Lodge. The pool was so inviting and relaxing. We enjoyed a couple of ice cold beers before our Ayurveda massage (wich was incredible) We had a beautiful dinner prepared by the chef, western and Sri Lankan food is available from the menu. You have to try the spicy chicken curry. So good! The rooms are lovely with a view of treetops. Also have all the amenities and mini bar. We were looked after so well by the beautiful, friendly staff. On arrival we lit the tall brass welcoming candle. Such a lovely touch with tradition. I thoroughly recommend to Stay at Lake Lodge. You will want to stay longer. We wish we could’ve. 🙏

The most amazing hotel we have been during our 2 weeks trip in Sri Lanka. The room is great, the swimming pool a pleasure and the food is amazing. We had as well a massage and it was the best massage of all our trip !! All the staff was incredibly nice, and respectful. The place is really calm. It’s a paradise, you can’t miss this place!

I had high hopes for the food at this hotel, but it ended up being one of the worst parts of my stay. I ordered from the restaurant menu and was incredibly disappointed. The pasta was overcooked and swimming in a watery, flavorless sauce. The chicken dish I tried the next night was dry and clearly reheated — not something you’d expect from a so-called “Luxury boutique” hotel restaurant. Even the presentation looked rushed and unappetizing. To make matters worse, the food took forever to arrive, and the staff didn’t seem particularly bothered. For the price, I expected much higher quality. Save your money and eat elsewhere.
