My wife and I had a reasonable experience at this hotel, however have rated this as a 3* on the basis that the hotel is not a 5* and so would seem strange and potentially misleading for others to give anything else. The Pro's 1) Staff - from reception to the pool bar to housekeeping, staff at the hotel were exceptional, always happy to please. 2) Room cleanliness - apart from smell noted below, the room cleanliness was of a very good standard, with housekeeping changing towels etc on a daily basis. It would have been a nice touch to have water replenished on a daily basis (like at other hotels), but not a big deal, just a suggestion. 3) Breakfast/bar food - plenty of choice at breakfast and enjoyable. We ate from the pool bar on two occasions - both being good food and generous helpings (Classic Club Sandwich and BBQ Burger). The Cons 1) The building itself: the intention was probably there at design stage, but the execution of the build lacks in many departments, with the primary one being not finishing off many of the finer details (such as floors in corridors, lighting on steps, exposed pipework and electrics and steel girders under balconies left exposed). The room itself lacks furniture and what there is is of an inferior quality. 2) The smell in our room/in corridors - the smell from drains was a problem in both our room and adjacent corridors. Buying lavender didn't really help too much. All in all, a reasonable stay at the hotel, subject to the above.
