It is a 15-minute walk from the station, which is convenient even on snowy days. However, since the journey requires going up and down stairs, it is not suitable for dragging suitcases on snowy days.
The hotel has excellent facilities, friendly staff, comfortable hot springs, and delicious breakfast. It is a good choice for traveling with friends.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Every day when we returned to the hotel after skiing, they came out to greet us and help us get our skis. We asked about the delivery of skis to the airport, and the staff immediately contacted the delivery and helped us follow up.
The hotel is very comfortable, the room is large, and the hot spring is nice! The only problem is that the cleaning needs to be improved. When I came back from cleaning the room, I still saw dust on the floor. There are enough parking spaces, it's best to drive there. I don't seem to see a bus stop nearby.

This was a spur of the moment booking. I had a second night booked in another city but I did not want to stay another day. I prefer onsen ryokans and I stumbled upon this and booked on a whim. Turns out the city itself is a must see in Yamagata. It became one of my favorite towns in Japan thus far. The inn is simple but very nice. The staff are welcoming, the baths are enjoyable, the room is clean, and the location is perfect for seeing the best parts of the city. Staying here turned what was about to be a wasted day into one of the most memorable of this trip!

Good Dinner and Breakfast... Clean and big room

After reading the introduction of this hot spring hotel, Zaimu Sakaeya Hotel was once a hotel in a logging camp and a timber wholesaler with a history of more than 100 years.
The entire hot spring hotel uses a large amount of logs for decoration and construction, which is very unique. The single room I stayed in was very new and very clean.
Breakfast is a set meal, and miso soup, tea, drinks, etc. are also provided. At this price, it's a great value.
Since there is no shuttle bus, it takes about 15 minutes to walk from Kaminoyama Onsen Station to Zaiki Sakaeya.

There are no baths in the rooms, but in the large public bath, which closes at 11pm.
It seems that the new building, which is shaped like a business hotel, and the main building of the original inn are separate buildings.
The interior was new and clean.
It's quite close to the station, but there was a lot of snow and there weren't many pedestrian paths around, so I called a taxi.
If you live in a prefecture where it doesn't snow, you might not be used to it, so you might want to be careful.

I'm glad I had the chance to have this valuable experience.
I realized that Yamagata is a place of relatives and that there are many kind people here. I wish I could have stayed from the beginning, not just one night. I would like to stay here for a longer period if I get the chance, and I would also like to bring my relatives and parents and relax at this inn.
Thank you very much ^_^
