Overall, I can sum it up in one word: a very good hot spring. I saw some negative comments about the service, but from my experience, there was nothing unusual and the hospitality was worthy of a famous hot spring. Although maintaining the baths must be a lot of work, I was grateful to see the hard work of the staff and enjoyed it. The room I stayed in was "Japanese modern," but I arrived while it was still light, so I was able to fully enjoy the building, which is a registered tangible cultural property. Perhaps because it was a weekday, I had all the baths to myself, including the private bath, and was able to enjoy them many times in the evening, late at night, early in the morning, and before checking out. I felt that the two baths, the "Tateyu," which springs from the bottom of the river, and the "Izumi no Yu," with its beautiful stained glass, were truly unique. Each dish was well thought out and the portions were just right, so I was grateful. I would definitely like to come again.
