Aston at the Whaler on Kaanapali Beach

Maui is still the best vacation on earth. The fire in Lahaina was a terrible thing two years ago. But other than driving through the small, now-empty town, everything else remains beautiful, relaxing and fun. Since the fire, the residents and merchants are pleading for people to come to Maui. Tourism is down, so it's easy to get an ocean-front table and there's a more relaxed feel. The Kaanapali Resort (just north of Lahaina) is as perfect, opulent, fun, relaxing as ever. The Hyatt, Marriott, Westin and Sheraton resorts line the beach, with their super pool systems of waterfalls and water slides. Two condos - The Whaler and Kaanapali Alii - are also on the beach, and offer studio to two-bedroom homes with full kitchens, etc. My wife and I own a studio at The Whaler, which is in the middle of the resorts and offers a full kitchen and more room than any of those resorts at a generally lower price. Kaanapali Beach is in front, and two 18-hole golf courses are directly behind all those resorts and both condos. There's also a small open-air shopping plaza with up-scale stores and fantastic restaurants. World-class snorkeling is at Black Rock, on the north end of Kaanapali Beach, and catamarans pull directly up to the beach to take you on snorkeling adventures or dinner cruises. My wife and I have been coming to Kaanapali Beach on Maui every year for forty years. It is our "perfect" place. Once you come, it will be yours, too.

Didn’t get the room I asked for when I scheduled the trip. 3 coffee makers. 1 didn’t have a carafe, 1 had a broken carafe. Didn’t see housekeeping the 9 days we were there.
