The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, Ka'Anapali

Reason for choice We decided on this resort for several reasons. First, the washer/dryer and full kitchen. Secondly, we wanted a large place with a couple bedrooms. We have a 4 month old baby and two other children. Having space to spread out so we can get nap times in is critical at this stage. Typically, we would be staying at a more “upscale” type resort but for the ages of our kids on this trip we decided on this. Room It feels new and updated. Nothing about our room felt dated or dirty. It was very clean and well maintained. Beds are pretty comfortable too. Amenities Washer and dryer are amazing. It’s so nice to have when you have young kids getting their clothes dirty within the first few minutes of even getting dressed. We brought our own powder detergent however, they do provide two boxes. The kitchen is great. They have a walk in pantry. There was no baking sheet for the oven which I found a little odd. Pool The pool is great for young children and older children. The visibility is low for keeping an eye on my 8 year old as she’s doing her own thing in the pool because there’s several islands of rocks around. My toddler loved it. They have a “splash pad” type area with very shallow water and a “sand” bottom area as well. Both completely safe for my almost 3 year old to play in. Beach The beach is great. It’s right there and the snorkeling is incredible. We even saw turtles which our 8 year old loved. Vibe Overall the crowd felt like they were all here from Florida or something. And it seemed like every young family was traveling with their grandparents. If you’re used to staying at Ritz Carlton properties but need the extra space like we did… just know you are making sacrifices for the extra space.

The staff was accommodating and nice. From the valet, to the front desk, to housekeeping, to the bar. The people were great. However, the overall facilities left something to be desired. Though the villa was clean, there were some missed opportunities. The bodywash in the shower was not full to start or refilled at the midweek service. There was no cookie sheet/tray or tongs apart of the kitchen utensils, had to be creative with using the oven and very careful with turning food while cooking. The wheel on the bottom rack of the dishwasher was broken and the plastic was burning against the grid, we were left wondering what that burning smell was? Noone noticed this when they cleaned before? Also, not using fitted and top sheets on the bed, causing the linen to be disheveled everyday was frustrating. Last, almost everyday while housekeeping did their rounds, boxes and bags were left outside our villa door. Not sure if this villa 3612 was used as a staging spot or just if it was the proximity to the facilities maintenance rooms but its not a good look or feeling for a paying guest to be in the drop location for trash pickup.

Gorgeous resort. Pristine property. Very well maintained and cared for. Daily housekeeping!!! Grills to use for guests, gorgeous beach with soft white sand beaches. Gorgeous sunsets. Very comfortable beds and rooms.

LOSE THE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This isn't Vegas. Maui is about slowing. Enjoying where you. Lose the music at the pool.

We own 4 weeks at Nanea and come twice annually to enjoy Maui. The 2 bedroom unit was very comfortable for the 5 of us. The unit had a good kitchen but is need of an upgrade. We had to wash our dishes after each meal to have clean dishes and utensils for our next meal. Storage containers with sealing tops is insufficient in quantity. The bedroom and bathroom are large and very comfortable. The master suite has a very nice soaking bath tub. The pool is smallish but we often used the pool at the Ka’anapali Ocesn South which is much larger and not as crowded. We come at least twice a year to enjoy Nanea and Maui and the Hawaiian Aloha and food. I highly recommend Nanea for a family vacation.

Excellent facility staff and location exceeding expectations on all levels been to many hotels around the world best one yet will be back
