Orchard Hill

Our room was very nicely decorated and inviting. Pillows and the queen bed were comfortable which provided great sleep. The separate bath was very quaint. No shower stall, so we really needed to be careful getting in and out of the tub. The lodge/dining area was very grand. Obviously the hotel was well maintained. The location was amazing. The views were gorgeous even though the heat of October did take its toll on various plants, we could still appreciate the beauty of the property. Not only was this location amazing, it's on minutes from the Main Street in Julian. So convenient. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and wanted to make sure that we were have a good stay.

It was the most beautiful and peaceful trip for us and it is because of Orchard Hill. We felt very special and the ambiance is the best ever! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. We loved the snacks and breakfast. Especially the home made jams! We will come back!

we did not know what to expect at Orchard Hill. it was a 2 night impromptu getaway for us. the lodge turned out to be much better than expected. it's not the Four Seasons but then that's not what it's supposed to be in Julian. it is very comfortable, clean and relaxing. the staff...in particular Becky and Mary Ann were exceptional. they made us feel special and appreciated. thee lodge is also in the process of updating some of the property. I would not hesitate to recommend Orchard hill and we'll be back.

All the staff was extremely friendly. We were pleasantly surprised with the happy hour everyday with the yummy charcuterie board and breakfast was wonderful as well. It was such a relaxing beautiful trip with our private lodge. It was conveniently located right on the edge of town!

This place has the potential to be a 5 star hotel/inn. The lobby and outdoor area is gorgeous. We enjoyed the bar but the new drinks too way too long to make. I ordered a drink well before everyone else around me, and the bar tender made everyone else’s drink but mine. She kept apologizing to me and thanks me for my patience, yet never made my drink. I’m also pretty sure she charged us for our complimentary wine and the drink she never made me. They could definitely benefit from an actual bartender or a second bartender. On our second night there we ended up having to leave so we could go eat dinner somewhere else. We tried to eat at the hotel but they said since we didn’t have a reservation we couldn’t eat there. It would be nicer if they allotted tables for the actual guests staying there, willing to spend the money, and keeping other tables for those that aren’t hotel guests. The shower in the room was also very hot or cold, no in between. The tv in the room is very small, about the size of a computer screen. One nice thing is the quietness once you get in the room. We stayed on the first floor and cousins hear anything outside our room which was nice. Over all the staff is wonderful and our stay was nice. But it could have been much better.

Absolutely magical stay with beautiful grounds and the friendliest staff we've ever met. Live music, happy hour and an included breakfast make this a must stay for anyone looking for an escape in Julian. Getting a tad rough around the edges and could use a little paint here and there but all of that is overlooked when you leave refreshed and smiling.

Went for 2 nights with my wife for a wedding. Our room was at the main house, on the first floor. We also had friends staying at the cabins, so we had the opportunity to check them out as well. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The location is excellent, one block away from town. The climb to the building from the street was long and unpaved (gravel), but they had golf carts assisting guests that did not want to walk up. The rooms at the main building are big but aged. Especially the bathrooms, which gave us a Motel 6 feeling. The bed was extremely soft, even with the Tempurpedic 3" mattress topper they placed over it. The room was carpeted and the lighting was not enough. They had one USB charging station near the TV. The facilities were clean and pleasant otherwise. The TV was very small and the options not great. The shower varied from hot, to too hot, or too cold as one took it. Some Cabins did not have a shower nor a place to hang the shower head high enough for it. The lobby area was pleasant and cozy. The breakfast was included but it was disappointing. White bread, dry bagels, scrambled eggs, sausage, oily potatoes and fruit. It was gone and not refilled as needed (unless we asked) within minutes from opening at 8:30. Better to go into town and have breakfast at Julian's Cafe. It is a place that could be a 4-star location with little updating and investment (BTW, they were also the most expensive in town).

I went with my husband for a short weekend, we absolutely loved it. The cottage was beautiful and so comfortable. The owners were amazing. We attended an event where we had a 3 course meal and got to watch the Perseid Meteor shower. It was awesome and we met such great people. We will definitely recommend Orchard Hill to our friends and family, and we will definitely be returning soon ❤️

Recently stayed at the Orchard Hill and I can't say enough great things about it. The staff was very welcoming they all made you feel right at home. The rooms were clean and comfortable with amazing views. I suggest visiting downtown and all the shops. Great experience. Looking forward to another trip down to Julian.
