Holiday Inn Johnstown-Downtown

I spent one night at the Holiday Inn for a business meeting. Here are my honest observations: 1. The staff was unfailingly polite from beginning to end. They accommodated my request for an early check-in. 2. The lobby is clean and attractive. 3. The gym is pitiful. It has a decent rack of weights, but two of the three machines were broken. A Peleton would be a huge upgrade. The pool did look nice. 4. My room was fine if a bit drab. The brown carpet, brown curtains, and brown light fixtures made it dark and dreary. The bed was comfortable, the in-room coffee was drinkable, the TV and AC worked, and the bathroom had ample hot water. The room was clean. 5. I had breakfast in the restaurant. It is very attractive, and the service is good. Wanting something light, I ordered a bagel. I feared breaking a tooth eating the tiny bagel I received. I should have ordered one of the standard menu items. 6. The parking lot is closed for construction, but the adjacent garage was convenient. 7. The hotel location is excellent; Johnstown is quite walkable, and I walked to the park, a brewery, and Coney Island restaurant. 8. The brunch served at our meeting was delicious and ample. The young man working the brunch really hustled! 9. Finally, the free internet worked flawlessly.

J-town Holiday Inn Several issues with my Sons room that were not corrected by the staff. Phone did not work, lights were burned out, heat did not work (25 degrees outside).

Very satisfied with our stay. We were able to check in early so that our baby had a quiet place for his afternoon nap. Everything was very convenient and comfortable, and the staff professional. They seem to be doing a major renovation but it didn’t impact our stay at all.

Would skip it next time… I am really disappointed. I chose this hotel over others in the area that were rated the same but much lower priced because of the hot tub. I get there and it’s closed, my daughter had no hot water at all. Mine was lukewarm. The ice machine on my floor wasn’t plugged in. No vending machines and the safety chain on our door was installed upside down so you couldn’t use it. The lady at the desk said this was actually the case with a lot of rooms so that’s even more concerning. The deadbolt for the adjoining room door wasn’t lined up totally right so it just touched… it didn’t actually lock. Then there was the white substance all over the desk and curtain… I seriously don’t even want to think about what it could be… so nasty.

The ice machine did not work on our floor. There were no vending machines at all in the hotel. If you wanted any beverage, i was told to go to the restaurant and get a to-go cup. It would have been nice to have been told this at check-in, along with breakfast info, etc. Calling the front desk went to 12 rings, twice. The tub was extremely slippery. I dont know why hotels even have tubs/shower combos anymore. The are dangerous. A walk-in shower is perfect.

Not many hotels are truly quiet anbd this one was no exception. Hallway traffic way too loud even during quiet hours and I was put in a room right behind the elevators which should be seriously soundproofed. Okay stay, definately not a "must stay" if I go back to Johnstown
