Because we were driving by ourselves, it was important to choose a hotel in each place. We wanted to have a good rest. This is the hotel we stayed in both when we entered Xinjiang and when we returned. The room was large, and we could take a comfortable bath. The breakfast was also good. The beautiful lady at the front desk had a very good attitude. We had a meal in the restaurant on the second floor on the way back. The food tasted very good, especially the pregnant mother. Her attitude made us feel comfortable. If I have the opportunity to come to this city, I will stay here again.

Facilities: Average, not sure about other floors, the higher the floor, the more comfortable it feels.
Hygiene: The bedding and bathroom are very clean
Environment: In the city, it is very convenient for eating and shopping.
Tips: I booked two rooms, one of the special rooms is 50 yuan cheaper without breakfast (originally wanted to experience local breakfast), it is not recommended to book a special room, the ventilation on the low floor is not as good as the high floor.
Free mini bar in the room: I ordered takeout at night and finished Fanta Sprite. It was cool and comfortable

I stayed in this hotel a year ago and it was a good feeling. This time I was really speechless. The pillowcases were obviously not replaced. I called the front desk and the security guard sent two more, saying they were brought from another room. I was still speechless. It's dirty. The problem is that the waiters cut corners and the supervisor doesn't check the room? There was hair next to the hot water bottle, and there was only a little bit of roll paper in the bathroom. I was too embarrassed to bother the front desk again... Fortunately, I brought the paper~

Originally booked the Home Inn, but later found that it did not have a parking lot, so I changed this one. I didn't expect to give me an unexpected surprise. This hotel is too comfortable to live in, so I am satisfied. A large courtyard with a very rustic feel, very cozy, with cute cats and dogs. It was already late at night when we arrived. Thank goodness the boss for waiting for so long to help us check in. We dined here the next day. Four of us had copper pot hot pot. We were very satisfied and the seasoning was very fragrant. Tutu looked at us eagerly under the table while we were eating. It was so cute!

The room facilities are also complete. I slept very comfortably. The experience is really good. It is a separate area. , it is very quiet at night, no motorcycles will pass by. SsaveriosilliThe Hotel just opened and of course there are some adjustments to be made, but it has great potential and they really made an effort to make our stay lovely. The location is just perfect, it's less than 5 minutes walk from the gate of the Mingsha Mountain desert area and there are restaurants, snacks, a supermarket and a pharmacy nearby. It's also near the famous Leiyin Temple. Upon our arrival, we were upgraded to the garden room, with direct access to the swimming pool and the sand garden that has Jujube and Pear trees (they welcome you to pick the fruits and eat them, they are very sweet). The room has a private garden with reclining chairs and inside it is new with a modern style, the bed and pillows are super comfortable. It has a large fridge and a wall projector to watch your own media. The room's air is chill even without using the AC and very bright thanks to the big window. The management was very nice with us and gave us welcome presents and invited us to a live music show in the garden offering us beers. They managed a delivery for all the stuff we bought and wanted to ship back to Shanghai. Only little problem is that with the sand garden, it is very easy to bring sand inside the room, they will hopefully come up with a solution for that in the near future.

MmollieeI went there during the Spring Festival. The front desk manager Xiao Wang provided great service. He added WeChat in advance and arranged to pick me up at the airport. The hotel is listed as a four-star hotel. The hardware is a bit simple and the elevator is a bit slow, but the hygiene is good, the linens are up to standard, and the shower water volume is particularly large. Breakfast was also ok. The decoration still has a bit of smell. My companions are quite sensitive and felt discomfort in their eyes and throats. Later we changed to a shady room where it was not so hot and the smell was not so obvious. Overall, this hotel is very cost-effective.

SSaharathThe hotel location is good, right in the city center. The exterior may look like an ordinary modern Chinese hotel but the guest room interior is quite nice. Modern with lots of electrical outlets.
The breakfast is simple but tastes really good. The best for this China trip for me.
The hotel also has a free pickup and dropoff service from/to Dunhuang Airport and Dunhuang Railway Station.
One of a few drawbacks for me is the shower room design. I mean construction wise, not decoration wise. Even though there is a circumference groove on the shower room floor to drain water, the swinging glass shower door leaves space at the bottom, causing water to spill outside and pool on the floor. The floor is marbled so it could be slippery.
Another is that even though I had the hotel's WeChat account and had tried to contact them, as I thought I would be able to use the translation function on the app, I was not able to reach anyone or get any response.

BBerrrrrrrrrWe got free upgrade to the suite so that was nice. Very pretty river view and not as noisy as some of the reviews I've read. Probably because the weather was getting chilly.
Room was very spacious, even for just the size of the bedroom alone. Bed was comfortable and not too soft. But I will say that the light switches in the rooms and also the smart toilet seat were very confusing. Strangely, it had a large bathtub area, but a separate and very squished shower closet. The water didn't quite drain properly also.
Breakfast was okay. But considering how the city really is just a town in the desert, I'd say it's actually pretty good. The local restaurants are also options, but we had to get up super early for day trips, and didn't feel like freezing outside to look for food when it's still dark. Side note, the night market in town is nice but not much going on outside of that area.
The hotel is not in the city centre, but since the city is small, taxi is the way to go. We actually end up just getting the phone number of one of the taxi driver, and called her whenever we planned to head out.
I chose the hotel based on aesthetics and was not disappointed. But our suite was in the end of a very long hallway, so get ready to walk if you are not near the elevator.

BBarryThe hostel is just down the canal a little from the centre of the city, an easy walk. The bus to and from the railway station is less than 500 metres away (ignore what Google maps tells you, they'll take you to a toilet in the wrong direction, use the Trip.com map, and click through to Google maps to get it right). Go a couple of km the other way and you're at the Dunhuang Museum. There is plenty of space downstairs to hang out, they sell a few cold drinks, and might even make coffee - they have the equipment). The rooms are on the second and third floor, no elevator. My room, #304, was quite rustic and not very big, but had a small table and adequate bed. The shower was just far enough away from the toilet that the floor there stayed sort of dry. Air con did struggle a bit with the 40 degree heat.

GGuest UserFrom the exterior the Dunhuang Jiayuan Hotel looks like a traditional Chinese hotel. But the room is furnished with all the modern trappings that are so essential to a weary traveler. The bedroom and attached bathroom are very clean, hot showers readily available and the bed comfortable.
The hotel is right next to the Shazhou night market and within walking distance to all the transportation hubs which makes visiting Dunhuang attractions easy.
And the service team was fantastic. One and all they were approachable and very helpful. The lovely lady who checked us in not only upgraded our room but she even managed to get us seats on a Western Dunhuang tour which was one of the highlights of our already amazing trip!
Another recommended local dishes for us to try and we were amused to see the name of one such restaurant on a road sign!
In short we love Dunhuang Jiayuan Hotel. Thank you lovely ladies for making our stay there a very satisfying one 👍
