"My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at this exquisite spa, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed by the warm and attentive staff, who went above and beyond to make our day special. The ambiance is serene and beautifully designed, creating an atmosphere of complete relaxation and luxury. We indulged in a couples massage that was heavenly, followed by some time in the private sauna and relaxation areas. Every detail was perfect – from the soothing music to the selection of essential oils personalized for us. The spa's amenities are impeccable, and the treatments are delivered by highly skilled therapists who make sure you leave feeling rejuvenated and cherished. This spa truly exceeded our expectations, making our anniversary celebration a memorable one. This was the best trip my partner and I have taken because of our overall experience (great facilities, great hospitality, yummy food and drink) and the beauty of The Retreat can’t be captured in words. In addition to the amazing eats and drinks, beauty of the setting and facilities, and hospitality of the staff, the thoughtfulness of the team really sets this place apart. Must experience for yourself.

I stayed at Retreat CR from June 9th to June 12th 2024 (Cafe Room below the Spa) and unfortunately had a traumatic experience due to carbon monoxide exposure in my room. By the second night, I began feeling lethargic and nauseous, eventually requiring a trip to a clinic. On the final night, I woke up with a racing heart, shortness of breath, and eventually collapsed in my room. I was rushed to the hospital and later diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning upon returning home. Throughout my stay, there was little follow-up from the hotel staff regarding my condition, and the hotel lacked basic resources like electrolytes for ill guests. Even after notifying the hotel about the carbon monoxide exposure, their response was inadequate, stating they would "share it with the team and take necessary measures." This experience left me with ongoing health issues, PTSD, and anxiety, requiring therapy to cope with the trauma. I cannot recommend this hotel due to the safety issues and lack of proper guest care.

I’m not sure where to start, Retreat was one of the best experiences I have had in quite some time. It was so relaxing. The food was so refreshing and fulfilling Jonathan made every meal time feel so personal. The Spa was fresh, and clean and the employees so welcoming and accommodating. I can’t say any more but just book. I promise you will not be disappointed.

It was my second stay at The Retreat and it is a spectacular place. Every detail is very well thought out, the landscape is wonderful with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the Gulf of Nicoya. The hotel truly reflects the dedication and philosophy of its founder, Diana Stobo and is a place for body and soul restoration. The rooms are very comfortable, quiet, clean, and have spectacular views. It has cozy common areas where you always have access to a variety of teas and coffee. The personalized attention and customer service are excellent at every level. The treatments at the "Vida Mia" spa are amazing. Food was creative and delicious. A special mention to Bryant and Emerson for making this stay an unforgettable experience.
