Well, I wasn't sure what too expect when I set off but what a truly wonderful experience. This old petit chateaux is set in the countryside on the outskirts of jars and has character in abundance and Genevieve, the host has decorated the rooms with amazing skill and creativity. I arrived on my motorbike en route to Cherbourg to catch the ferry home after visiting family on Ile d'Oleron and I was immediately given the opportunity to put it under cover in one of the barns. I was earlier than I expected and the room wasn't quite ready, so I was given a coffee and I sat in the beautiful grounds while it was made up. Indeed, the grounds are teeming with wildlife and well worth exploring. The building is also so interesting, the bedrooms are in character but with all modern facilities. I joined the 4 other guests, who were all French, for Genevieve's homemade dinner. We had a great evening of camaraderie whilst enjoying a meal of local produce. In the morning I was sad to leave..... What more can I say - it was a truly amazing experience and I would highly recommend a visit if you are thinking of staying in the area.
