Hotel Livvo Jandía Golf

We’ve just returned from a week at this hotel and had a lovely time overall. On arrival around 3pm, we were given our wristbands straight away, asked to leave our luggage at reception, and encouraged to head straight to lunch before it closed at 3:30pm which we really appreciated after a full day of travelling and being absolutely starving! We stayed in Block 1, top floor, with incredible views overlooking the golf course, mountains, and even right down to the sea. Just a heads-up though – this block is also above the delivery entrance, so we were woken most mornings around 6am by the sound of delivery trucks. It didn’t bother us too much, but if you’re a light sleeper or after total peace, it’s something to consider. One morning, we even woke up to find two adorable little lizards sunning themselves on our balcony, we all loved that! The apartment itself was decent – a little dated in places (the shower was half hanging off the wall when we arrived) but spotlessly clean. Towels left on the floor (as requested by the hotel) were replaced daily, and the beds were made every day too. The food in the main buffet restaurant was really good, with loads of variety at each meal. The snack bar was also great, although a bit of a free for all at times – some guests would load up their plates the second anything fresh came out, so there was occasionally a wait for more to be cooked. Burgers are made to order (which means a short wait), but they’re worth it! There’s also a themed restaurant – it was Italian during our stay – open three nights a week with two sittings. You need to book at reception. The food and atmosphere here were lovely and a nice change from the buffet hustle and bustle. The entertainment team were fabulous, super friendly and always around getting people involved. Evening entertainment was a kids’ disco followed by the main show (singers, bingo, etc.). We often sat on the terrace in the evening, played cards with the kids, and could still hear the entertainment going on below. There are two bars open in the evening – the pool bar downstairs and the sports bar upstairs. Queues can build up as there’s usually only one bartender per bar, but they work really hard and do a brilliant job. The cocktails are made properly (very minimal premixed stuff), which does slow things down a bit, especially when people order a dozen at once – but again, worth the wait! The only real downsides for us were down to other guests – sunbeds being reserved before the pool even opened although there are enough for all guests some people liked the same spot everyday, kids left to run riot in the restaurant, and queue jumping at meal times. Not the hotel’s fault, but frustrating at times. Location wise, it’s in a beautiful, peaceful setting, but very out of the way. I’d definitely recommend hiring a car. We read in reviews about a free beach shuttle, but we weren’t told about it and never saw it. We walked to the beach instead – about 20 minutes downhil

Hotel is nice, very clean (kudos to cleaning staff), food was nice and the staff are attentive and nice enough, especially Kevin, who was the standout colleague for me. Laura could smile more, but I feel her, having to deal with tourists all day. Entertainment team do a great job and the young kids love them. Evening entertainment is mini disco followed by music or games/quizzes. However, we tend to sit upstairs in the sports bar as it tends to be quieter and quicker to get drinks. The only downside is the location and lack of amenities. If you're happy to just relax and not wanting to travel it's perfect. But there is no shop in or near the hotel and the local town was petty much closed down apart from a spa and a few other shops. Taxi was hard to find, we were lucky enough to flag one down but don't expect to just get in a taxi. It's a fair walk to the town and all up hill on the way back. Only two of the three slides were running, which is a shame as the one that wasn't looked the most fun. I think a shop is needed here, as the Brits love Lays and that, the closed down bar would make a nice Little mini market.
