Surf Synergy All-Inclusive Surf Retreat

Our family absolutely loved everything about our time at Surf Synergy. Their team was Awesome. Our surfing dramatically improved after only 3 days of their comprehensive program. We learned so much more due to incredible coaching, board selection, video analysis, stretching, and spa treatments. The food, service, and general vibe was outstanding. We can't wait to get back to Surf Synergy.

Surf Synergy is a first class wellness retreat that completely exceeded our expectations! Amazing program, amazing facilities, outstanding food and a simply wonderful staff. While surfing can be the focus make no mistake this is a full wellness experience with mind body, breath-works, recovery and nutrition. The thought of going to a surf and wellness Holiday was not on the very top of my family’s wish list, and after 7 days, there is conversation of how to make this an annual trip! This is all due to the program that has been put into place at Surf Synergy. Every aspect of the week is crafted for a perfect mix of activity, relaxation, and learning. What I was SO happy with how this week provided our family the opportunity to be very close. Watching them smile in the water was absolutely the best part!!! Thank you to the entire staff!!

Short story: this place goes far beyond expectations. Far beyond. Excellent surf instruction, amazing food, gorgeous accommodations, and unbeatable service. It's transformative. Longer story: I'm 52, overweight, not in great shape, and this week I learned to surf. I used to surf when I was young, and at one point I could catch most of the waves that I paddled for. But then life happened and about 25 years went by without me surfing almost at all. I tried getting back into it recently, but stuff just didn't work. In the last four years of trying to surf, I learned that I just couldn't pop up anymore. Surf Synergy changed all of that. I had an AMAZING coach (I'm not going to list their name, as I found out that literally EVERY coach there is amazing), one:one instruction, video review of what I did every day, and careful progressions as I improved. This past week I tracked my surfing on my Garmin watch. Before Surf Synergy, I caught about 10 waves in the last four years. This past week I caught a little more than 80. My pop up is now automatic. I'm working on turning faster to stay higher on the wave, using the board to build and maintain speed... the point being: in six days my surfing has totally transformed. There were other people down there with me who had NEVER surfed, and by the end of the week they were paddling out to the line-up and going for green faces ON THEIR OWN!!! And that is just the start. I have heard that yoga is really good for you, but I've always been really uncomfortable in classes. The classes at Surf Synergy are awesome. I felt comfortable and I completely noticed the benefit both in the water and just walking around. My flexibility is noticeably better in just five days (I missed one day). I'm now motivated enough to actually start doing yoga at home and I feel great. I ate WAY too much. The food is unreal. Fresh mahi mahi, sea bass, tons of creative vegetable options... and I lost five pounds. I ate too much AND I LOST FIVE POUNDS. I don't know how they did it, but between the surfing, healthy food options, low sugar... I don't know. But I feel fantastic. There were TONS of options for vegetarians and vegans, too (my daughter is vegetarian and I can't do dairy... I never missed a yogurt (coconut) or a dessert). The accommodations were amazing. Comfortable beds, tons of bathrooms, a gorgeous pool, sauna, cold plunges (I'm totally addicted to cold plunges!!! SO AMAZING!!), ping pong, workout and yoga areas, fantastic massage therapy (Dave is a miracle worker), and views that are mesmerizing. Finally there is the people. The entire staff is kind, happy, helpful, and really, really committed to the guests having a great experience. I think a lot of that is because the operation is run more like a community than a pretentious resort. The staff ate the same food we did, and in some cases with us. This will be a week that I will never forget. I have only surfed a few times and most of those times I've been scared. Scared to steal someones wave, scared to get "pummeled" in a wave, scared to be too tired or figure out how to get back to shore. This week truly changed all of that. The 1:1 coaching is life changing when it comes to learning to surf (you'll have the same instructor all week). They are very careful to meet you where you are and help you progress, slowly, when you are ready to handle the bigger waves. Surf Synergy takes care of all the hassle that comes with learning to surf (at least for me). From choosing your board, to choosing your waves, to teaching you when to get up on the wave, perfect cut pineapple when you get back to the beach with a fresh water rinse, truly magical. Back at the hotel you can expect friendly staff, music that fits the vibe, cold plunges and saunas, yoga, a fantastic basement for families to enjoy ping pong or movies, and the FOOD. It completely blew me away. 15/10 for sure. Fresh, clean, healthy options and plenty of them. Come ready to meet new people and remember what its all about. Can't recommend it enough and I can't WAIT to go back!

They made this available to everyday people in a beautiful resort setting in the hills of Jaco, Costa Rica. Everything about this resort is 5 star. The facilities, the food, the surf instructors, the staff, the accommodations and all the assistance you need to take full advantage of everything else Costa Rica has to offer. Once you get there you won’t want to go home and you’ll be figuring out when you can return with different groups of friends that would love the experience as much as you did.
