Hilton Garden Inn Jacksonville

Pros: Clean rooms (particularly liked the updated bathrooms) and public spaces, ample parking, nice ambience with the fire pit out front, safe area with plenty of food and shopping options nearby, pleasant staff. Cons: The front desk staff needed more training because it took a call to a manger to get us checked in after a very long travel day and smells from the lobby restaurant linger into the public spaces.

Simply beautiful

I wanted to like this place. PROS: -very friendly and helpful check-in -rooms very quiet and comfortable CONS: -breakfast not free for gold/diamond (cost $2.79) -no hot water the entire stay When I checked in they told me they were having problems with the hot water, but to run it for 25 min and it would be fine. I NEVER had hot water in the 4 days I was there. Even after losing sleep to get up 30 min early to run the water, it never got warmer than the "cool" setting on my washing machine. Maybe being on the top floor contributed (I have no idea). The 3rd day they gave more details: it was still being investigated and they were trying to run all the water through the building. Strange. They should have hired outside help on day 1 no matter the cost to fix the problem. The manager was not there when I checked out. I had asked 2 different people to have the manager call me. They never did until I called several days later. They put me on hold and then told me they took 1/2 off the cost of each night. But they didn't ask me first. My work paid for the trip and a partial refund would mess up my travel voucher, cause me more work and not actually help me at all. So I asked for points. They gave me 5,000, enough for about 10% of ONE night. I replied to corporate's email asking how the settlement by the local hotel was. I replied that it was disappointing. So corporate gave me 20,000 more points, about 50% of ONE night. Sad that the local hotel management could't make things right. I gave up. I guess in the end a few points from corporate is better than nothing at all.

Only if you like cold showers... The hotel had no hot water for the duration of my 3 night stay. Staff suggested letting water run for 15 to 20 minutes and see if the water warms..it dis not. No compensation was suggested or given for this major inconvenience. I would not, I repeat, would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Amazing staff which made it an amazing stay

The indoor pool was a wonderful perk for my younger children. Service was excellent with friendly staff and easy check-in/out. Out of the hotels we've stayed in Jacksonville, NC, this is our favorite.
