We have been coming to the Wildcat Tavern with family for years. I’ve never experienced such a change in an establishment for the worse. Menu was as blah as the food. The staff were as rude as the service was slow. What happened? And, please don’t blame it on Covid! That excuse is as lame as your customer service.

My son and I stayed in the economy room with two twin beds. The room was cozy and rustic in a good way. The bathroom was clean enough but could use an update. The living room common area outside the room was a nice place to drink my morning tea and read. I loved being able to walk down the stairs into the bar room for dinner, drinks and live music. It was also a stone's throw to Jackson X-C. Sue and Stu were very accommodating. There was no power the day I arrived due to high winds. Stu, the owner, opened the tavern for guests and we had fun hanging drinking and chatting with other guests. Sue kept the bar open a little later for us so that we could eat at the bar when my son arrived from Boston with food. In all, it was a good value and the perfect place to stay for our father-son ski trip.

Room review
I never saw any staff during my stay nor did I receive any instructions regarding how to find or get into my room. Luckily I met another guest that showed mere how to find what I was looking for. The room was okay but I am used to watching TV in bed which was not possible as the TV was located in the other room. The room was excessively warn and took many hours with the window (almost impossible to access) open. The bathroom space was small making any movements inside awkward. I ended up checking out a day early.

As always, the The Wildcat Inn and Tavern offered an excellent get away and a great base for painting and skiing. This time, an extensive power failure across the region offered a true test of the staff, and they excelled themselves--from providing battery-powered lamps for all rooms to keeping the bar open with lights on the tables and drinks provided on cash or credit as the cc readers weren't working, The conversation was wide-ranging and it was great to have a chance to get to know the owner, the staff, some regulars and fellow guests better than would otherwise have been possible. Truly a terrific testament to a wonderful place.
