Apparently it used to be a high-end inn, but it is now run independently from Takashima Ryokan. It was a very reasonable and friendly facility. Meals are not served in the room, but the dining area is spacious so you can eat at your leisure. I ordered a course that included wild Hokkaido abalone, and was asked whether I wanted it as sashimi or grilled in butter, so I ordered one of each. Both dinner and breakfast were filling and good value for money. There are times when the hot spring is open to day-trippers, but there are also times when it is only open to guests staying at the hotel, so it wasn't a problem.
