Hotel Ithaca

Where do I start? Staff shortages delayed my check-in by 2 hours, AC was too cold and tough to regulate while other rooms had no AC. No toilet paper in room so had to ask and received 1 roll. Had to ask for towels, then toilet paper again multiple times days later to only get 1 roll. Sink was plugged and had to get that resolved. Business center printer did not work, 1 elevator out-of-order. Breakfast buffet was limited, not hot, and over-priced for what was available. Asked for coffee and was told "it's over there." Began noticing maintenance was lacking - peeling wallpaper, loose stair tread, loose carpeting, light switch in room for no apparent reason. Was a great hotel, now average.

Apart from the fact that room furnishings could use a bit of updating, we had a very enjoyable two night stay. There was ample free parking at the adjacent lot and the location was great for our needs. We did have an issue with wifi strength in our 9th floor too but we were quickly relocated to the 4th floor. Front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. Special mention to the housekeeping department. The room was spotless and well stocked.

We didn’t have a choice for our hotel as we were with a sports team which also meant we paid a premium to stay here. Unfortunately our experience was disappointing for the following reasons: - I called ahead to inquire on the time to check in. I was told 4pm so that is when we showed up. Our room was not ready and they couldn’t give us any sort of estimate on when it would be ready. We did not get notified until 5:45 that we could check. - the door to the room didn’t close/lock without a lot of effort. - there are smoking areas just outside the entrances. Gross. You can’t avoid it. - the pool was closed.

This hotel (north tower) needs serious updates! But most of all the rooms have vinal "wood" flooring throughout and they are disgustingly dirty. My husband's feet were completely black after walking from the bed to the bathroom twice! He didn't want to wear socks because he only had enough for the days we were there (at least he could wash his feet). My socks on the other hand were gross after being there! The phone didn't work so I had to call the front desk from my cell. The ironing board was broken (told them I needed a new one right away because we were going to a wedding), I asked for more towels and coffee pods as well. My DND sign was on, so they didn't even knock! Ok I know some hotels say they are not supposed to, but I JUST CALLED asking for the stuff! I had to call them (from my cell) to send them back up. Meanwhile, while I was in the shower I hear pounding (I took the sign off) on the door. My husband said they came 4 times!!! with all the things we asked for separately! and only brought up 2 coffee pods! The last thing I will mention is the AC and fridge. The AC is right next to the bed, so the air was blowing directly on us (all night) and the fridge kept going on and off all night long with a loud kick on sound that I heard it every time through the night. I stayed at another hotel after this trip and that didn't happen there. The fridge and rooms need a lot of updating! My husband is allergic to mildew and mold, and he said he couldn't breathe well because he felt there was mold and mildew in the AC unit. I am giving two stars because the staff was great, very nice and pleasant. They deserve to work in a better place.
