What a wonderful place! Beautiful location, lovely welcome, friendly, helpful staff, delicious food. There's literally nothing to complain about. I think it was the small touches that made this such a stand out place to stay - fresh milk for tea and coffee, home made short bread instead of mass produced packet biscuits being two examples.

Had the most wonderful lunch at the Colintraive hotel between Christmas and New Year. We were a large group of adults and kids and all the food and drinks we ordered were fantastic. Really high quality produce cooked to a high standard, everything from langoustines to ox cheek, in the most fabulous setting. We will be back.

Having been hearing about this small hotel for a while now and decided to book an overnight stay to suss the place out. First thing was the very warm welcome from Clare who showed us around and then surprised us with an upgraded room which was an excellent start to our day. For lunch had some soup just to warm us up as it was probably the coldest day so far in December, spiced pumpkin soup with nice homemade bread. We decided to eat in the cosy bar for dinner ,although we were welcome to use the main dining room. Food was first rate and as a lover of langoustines I could not resist this starter. Some of the best this year with an excellent sauce of garlic butter and dill ? Other half had brie and cranberry sauce which got thumbs up. We both had the cod for mains and the fennel and caper sauce complimented the fish well. Breakfast next morning was good but I was surprised not to see Kippers or smoked haddock ? Perhaps at this time of year they don't offer fish as th numbers visiting reduce . No matter we now have added this hotel to our list of great places to stop off at . Staff were friendly and it has a lovely vibe to it. Looking forward to our next visit in spring time . liz Bryant

Only popped in for coffee but wish we'd stayed the night. Or indeed for the lovely looking food. Cosy warm fire to match the welcome. Beautiful bar, great decor, lovely area. Feels remote and romantic. Will be back to stay. Wandered down to the folk museum too - a must see

Had lunch while waiting for ferry. I am coeliac and staff were careful to ensure I was catered for safely. The chef printed a menu from which I could select and even made my chips separately. I had cullen skink which was scrumptious. Definitely worth visiting and getting a later ferry!

What a gem of a place to stay. A delightful ferry journey brought us to the hamlet. The room was facing the sea with lovely views. It was very comfortable with fresh coffee and homemade shortbread . Dinner was great steak and fish with amazing salad dressings and homemade brown sauce . Breakfast was lovely too. The staff were so friendly. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel

Went out for a meal with wife and two friends. Staff very friendly and overall service was excellent. Restaurant very busy on the night. Personally I feel menu a bit limited and overly fancy. That said food was very enjoyable. My only criticism is that my medium steak was more rare that I feel medium should be, but it was delicious. I did notice someone at another table sending theirs back for same reason.
