Disappointing Stay. My recent stay at the Sonesta Hotel Las Colinas was unfortunately very poor. The room I was given was noticeably dirty, which was a huge letdown from the start. I even tried to cancel my reservation right after checking in because of the initial impression, but they refused to issue a refund. I generally don’t write reviews, but this dump deserves every harsh word. I used to stay here every time I visited Dallas—thanks to its convenient location, decent amenities, and good price—but after this mess, I’ll never be back. When we arrived, we were told our room was overbooked and were "upgraded" to a different suite. There was no upgrade—just a room with one less bed. I needed three beds and a sofa couch during a packed weekend with the Dallas Stars playing and a NASCAR race, and they couldn’t manage that. I practically thanked my lucky stars when we finally got into a room without unpacking all our bags. But the nightmare didn’t stop there. The next morning, ants were everywhere. I went downstairs only to be told that a new room wouldn’t be available until noon. So we moved from room 146 to room 246—yes, directly above our last disaster—proving again that everything here is a hot mess. The ant infestation was so bad that I had to break out Raid myself. I eventually had a word with the owner’s son, and after a half-assed chat with his mother, he offered to refund half of my trip for the remaining days. But then, when I went to check out, he had the nerve to say that since he’d sprayed the room with Raid again, that should be good enough—and he flat-out refused to refund any of my stay as we had discussed. As if that wasn’t enough, I later discovered that several women from the adult industry were conducting business on the premises—a huge red flag for the safety of my kids and me. To add insult to injury, this place has turned into a boarding house with half the hotel now occupied by long-term residents. This is not the family getaway environment I signed up for. The whole experience got even worse with the breakfast staff being obnoxiously rude, the pool looking like a scummy sludge even before the rain hit, and the elevator so filthy it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. I ended up calling my credit card company, and while they’re refunding my money, no refund can fix the horror of my stay. Do not, under any circumstances, stay here.
