Nice hotel/good location. The parking is not owned by the hotel and is a huge problem. I received an invalid code to get out of the garage and was given a $30 parking ticket instead which the hotel did nothing about. I called repeatedly and got no call back and when I did finally connect with someone all they had was excuses and blamed me for not understanding how to use the garage.

I wanted to make a shout out to Kayla, the manager at hotel vetro. She was incredible with her customer service and really was communicative and helpful when we faced a family emergency. She went above and beyond for us with compassion. We loved this hotel before and now I will absolutely return just because of how she made us feel. This hotel is modern, clean, has great space and is in a perfect location. I can’t wait to come back to IC soon!

I spent four years living in Iowa thinking the Hotel Vetro was the best hotel in town. Now that I came back to teach for 10 days and stayed there, I was very disappointed. Sadly, many of these reviews are accurate. The maintenance is very lacking. The floor 5 button didn't work in one of the elevators the entire 10 days I was there. In my room, the dining high-top table was so wobbly as to be unusable. Sat in the leather chair, which promptly tilted to one side because it was broken. The blind was tattered. The shower head was leaking water everywhere. The desk wobbled and I had to put a wedge under the leg to make it stop. Housekeeping came by once in a blue moon. My bed was only made a couple of times. But weirdly, they kept adding more and more towels to the stack and toilet paper rolls, despite not touching the bed. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Basically, it fell short of what I would expect from a more upscale hotel. But the worst part of the room for me was the bed. I always look forward to hotel beds because they are so fluffy and soft. Not so here. I felt like I was a guest at my Calvinist grandmother's house who believed comfort was self-indulgent. The bed was very hard, to the point I woke up several times a night and woke up with a stiff and achy back. The mattress has very little bounce or give. I asked at the desk if they might have a mattress topper and was told no, they don't use mattress toppers. Other friends staying in the hotel complained of the same thing. Sadly, the Vetro has seen its glory days. And with all the new hotels in town, people will choose a different hotel if Vetro's owners don't start treating the hotel like a competing contender.

Here it is 6 months after I stayed here and I am still angry ! I left a nice dress that I wore to a wedding in the hotel room. We checked out at noon and I realized I left the dress there and called before 5 pm. I was assured no one had cleaned the room yet and no one else checked in and yet my dress was not there- odd that no one could find it when no one had even entered the room since we left. The hotel is in a great location in terms of being in the heart of downtown Iowa City. Somethings in the room seemed a little run down. Hard to find ice. Just a bunch of little things- kind of disappointed and a bit shocked that it is a Tapestry Collection hotel- Hilton is usually a sure bet and Tapestry hotels are very good. Would not return. Still can't believe someone took the dress from the room- not happy.

Every thing in the room was broken. Blinds to access the balcony I paid extra for, chairs etc. the staff was helpful but couldn’t fix anything. I’ve stayed here two weeks in a row and have experienced the same thing in two different rooms !!!!!!

Garbage in my room on arrival and dirty dishes in sink Clogged bathroom sink and missing towels Broken shades That’s just a few if the many issues and no one cared to help ameliorate when I reported this There have an agreement with a good private gym - the only upside besides the location I don’t recommend this place

Lots of street noise. Thin walls because we could hear some party going on for hours after a wedding ended. Concrete floors all over the hotel. It's kind of cool but you can hear heels walking down the hallway at all hours. Toilet didn't flush. Hair in shower. It is a nice hotel room but I prefer a more traditional Hilton. Could be an age thing. The kitchenette was handy so I could refrigerate drinks. Front desk employees were very nice.

Lots of issues with our stay. HVAC was loud and not controllable. On or off. No adjusting temperature as the thermostat was taped together. Lights not working throughout the room. Paid extra for patio -- dead birds, cigarette butts, weeds in the cracks, bird poop on chairs. Loud noise from the bathroom throughout our stay. Stayed here in 2017 but has gotten tacky. Our friends had similar issues in their room as well. Sad.

Concrete floors in rooms and common space. Very drab and not comfortable at all. AC unit in our room was very noisy and the concrete floors made it worse. Wonderful location and staff was good too, but we were not comfortable there at all. I would not stay here again.
