Recently stayed here for three nights on a trip back home to NS. I chose this accommodation based solely on the location, as I loved coming to the beach in front of these cottages growing up. So the location for me is an absolute 5/5. You can walk down to the sandy beach on a short path just in front of the cottages. We stayed in unit #9 which just had a window AC unit put in before our arrival and that worked great. The kitchen was well equipped with a full stove and fridge, plates, glasses, utensils, coffee maker...etc. It did have pots but no oven pans so we couldnt really bake anything in the oven. There is a bakery (Sandeannie) just a couple minutes down the road that sells frozen homemade meals (in what looked like oven ready tin foil containers). If i had of known that I would have just purchased our suppers there and baked them in the cottage. They also have fresh bread and baked goods, preserves etc. There is a Coop grocery store also within minutes with everything you needed and I found the prices the same as anywhere else really. We did go to Mabou to eat at The red shoe pub (FYI on Friday nights they have live music ...a fiddle player and piano duo ... $10 per person cover added to your dinner bill) a decent spot... a little on the pricey side but only 12 minute drive if you did not want to cook. The front check in staff were friendly to book and check in, but other than when we brought our towels up to office once for changing we didnt really see any staff on our three nights/four days there. The only thing that was disappointing was I called ahead the day before to add our teenager and they amended our bill to add an extra $30/night but didnt even put an extra towel in for her so on our first night there the three of us had to share two towels. To be honest, Im not sure I understand the justification of charging for kids/ youth, perhaps its a deterrent to detract families with kids? Cause there were only older couples the three nights we were there. While I appreciated the quiet 'kid free' setting, I found the extra $90 plus tax to have our daughter stay with us in our cottage a bit much. I mean there is no daily housekeeping so no one is coming to make up an extra bed or anything. Otherwise, a nice spot. If you are looking for a great location and a quiet place to unwind and you don't need fancy new furniture or anything than this is the place for you.
