(John Muir) Tennessee Mountain Home is located on the Cumberland Plateau, 3 miles from the south entrance to Fall Creek Falls State Park in Van Buren County, Tennessee. It is situated on 3 acres in a wooded setting. We are now making it available as a vacation rental when not in use by members of our family. It is the closest rental to the park's south entrance. The nightly rate is $125 and is based on double occupancy. Stay a full week and receive a 15% discount! There is a two-night minimum. Additional guests may stay, but you'll need to contact owners for info regarding that. We do not charge a cleaning fee. We do ask our guests to leave our mountain house in order and reasonable clean - mainly all trash placed in the outside receptacle with lid securely attached - all used kitchen items washed, dried, and put away - or simply left in the drainer to dry. If our guests will assist us in this way, we will be able to continue not charging a cleaning fee. We also do not require a damage deposit and hope that will continue to be the case.This welcoming little house was completed in the fall of 2017. It was custom built by some of our Mennonite neighbors. It has 720 square feet of living space, a 125 square feet covered back deck, and a 130 square feet concrete patio complete with an outdoor fireplace. You're going to love sitting by a crackling fire in the evenings, listening to the whippoorwills, and watching the occasional deer wander through. As the day settles into evening there is a noticeable stillness and quietness that is so relaxing. On a clear night it's a wonderful place for viewing the star-lit sky. The house has one bedroom with a queen size bed. There is one bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Bed linens are provided, as well as towels & wash cloths, and dish towels & dish cloths. There is a sofa in the living area. It is NOT a sofa bed. There is also a swivel rocker and ottoman. A smart TV makes it easy for you to access your favorite shows/movies using your personal subscription passwords. Remember to sign out before you check-out A landline phone is available along with complimentary WiFi via high speed fiber optics service. The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking and serving supplies. Heating and air-conditioning is provided via a Carrier high wall ductless split system. There is also a wood burning (electric) stove for ambiance and optional heat. Cuddle up in the winter months or open the windows in mild weather to enjoy the refreshing mountain breeze. Water for the house is provided via a well on the property. It was tested at Tennessee Technological University and is also filtered. A charcoal grill is on-site but you will need to bring your own charcoal. You will also need to bring your own firewood if you plan to use the fireplace. Caney Fork River Cottage Located within footsteps from famous Caney Fork River known as “The Kayak Capital”.This beautiful cottage has 3 Bed 2 Bath & sleeps 7, possibly 8.Large covered back deck overlooking the river & dock for amazing views and all day sits watching as the waters are filled with fun.Bring your kayaks and fishing poles for some fun. The fishing is great and there is no better place to enjoy beautiful Tennessee while kayaking the Caney River. the dock offers good fishing too. You can bring your boat and tie off on the dock. The boat ramp is across the 4 lane Hwy directly across from the neighborhood. The location is private yet very convenient only a few miles from local amenities. Sparta is a fun town.With more caves, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks per square mile than anywhere else in the United States, Sparta TN is a great adventurous destination. We have over 100 miles of paddleable water including world-class whitewater and serene flat water. We are minutes to multiple hiking trails which range from easy to strenuous.We are bordered to the north by the Falling Water River, to the South lies the Caney Fork River which offers amazing kayaking and fishing. To the west we have over 40 miles of shoreline on Center Hill Lake which offers great boating, fishing and skiing. And to the east we are bordered by the Cumberland Plateau and Bridgestone Centennial Wilderness Area which offers excellent hunting and hiking opportunities. This 3 bedroom and 2 bath rental was previously a parsonage and has been renovated into a rustic rental house. It is attached to but not accessible from the dining hall and lodge. These are two separate, private rentals. This house has a full kitchen with a stove, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, disposal, pots and pans, coffee pot, dishes and utensils. It has a washroom with a washer and dryer. There are fresh linens and towels. The dining room table seats four with a bar counter that seats an additional four. The living room has a love seat, couch and a 55' television with cable. The bonus room has a television, futon couch, games and books. The master has a queen bed, the second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has a full bed. A rollaway bed is also available in the third bedroom closet, if needed. There is also a propane grill and outdoor fire pit. You will have access to 45 acres of rolling hills, woods and trail leading to the rivers edge. The area is filled with restaurants, hiking, waterfalls, state parks, kayaking, and much more!You enter the treehouse into a fully functional kitchen that features a mini fridge, convection microwave, a 2 burner cooktop and a Keurig coffee maker. It is fully stocked with plates, bowls, cups, wine glasses, silverware and cooking utensils. We have a waterfall island with two leather barstools that is perfect for dinner or even remote work if needed! Enjoy this magical outdoor area at night while setting under string lights and listening to the creek. We provide grilling utensils and lighters. Please bring your desired charcoal for the park style grill! If you are looking for any particular thing to do during your stay, we would love to provide you with recommendations for things to do and adventures to enjoy.-We are located in a some what rural area where you might not have any cell reception.
