We had a fantastic time at Qambathi Mountain Lodge this January. We stayed for 3 Nights. The staff is superb and the Location as well. Chef Cindy is very kind and provides a wonderful dinner. The horses are well trained and in good shape. We loved staying at the Lodge. We recommend to drive with a pick up or SUV - the public roads are in bad shape with lots of potholes.

We had a lovely stay here. Nice room with great views. We enjoyed the wine and the dinners. Great to see the zebras and impala so close. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. Arranged a great tour to the Sani Pass for us. So quiet and relaxing

A place to relax, laze around, rejuvenate, meditate and experience wildlife and nature. Beautiful and tranquil luxurious accommodation with lots of little details and special touches that just make it extra special! If you are searching for a stress free Oasis, this is your destination. Nadia and Stephen own this unique luxury boutique Lodge nestled in the valley of the Kamberg. It’s home away from home and their dedicated professional team go the extra mile in every way. The cuisine offered was mouthwatering and tasty. We were sorry to leave and will definitely be back.

Exceptional Hosting. Really good food. A beautiful, peaceful and serene environment. Room was awesome with a comfy bed. Appaloosa herd was intriguing. Thoroughly enjoyed the safe , well trained horses that we rode. Lots to do in the area. Hiking, horse riding, bike riding, river tubing as well as being in the Midlands Meander.

Qambathi Mountain Lodge is an absolutely wonderful place which I could not recommend more highly. Set in the most stunning setting close to the Kamberg Nature Reserve in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains, only 2.5 hours from Durban. Our Stable suite (one of only five) was incredibly comfortable, with a huge bed, walk in shower, free-standing bath and opened out onto a private terrace into gardens where zebra and buck roamed, with the beautiful hills and mountains rising up behind. The food was absolutely delicious, a superb breakfast setting you up for a day out in the fresh mountain air, and the - five course - dinner spectacular, different every night, all accompanied by an excellent and interesting wine list. The staff were so kind, attentive and funny - always about for a chat, to help suggest walks or trips out…or to stoke the fire pit as you enjoyed one last glass before bed. The surrounding area is breathtaking. We walked in the Kamberg Reserve with a local guide, seeing ancient rock carvings high up on a cliff face, and took the lodge’s beautiful horses out on a trek around the local area with the lovely stud manager Sian. And as keen birdwatchers, the amount one could see in and around the lodge grounds was extraordinary - from Lammergeier (Bearded Vulture) soaring over each morning, Gurney’s Sunbird right outside the suite, to rarities such as Bush Blackcap in the nearby thicket, as well as three varieties of Crane a short drive away. Their sightings list is something else. Stephen and Nadia have done an extraordinary job creating Qambathi. We felt incredibly fortunate to stay there and would confidently predict anyone who loves being in the heart of nature, in a luxurious yet relaxed setting, will feel very much the same.

Perfect jewel to relax. The lodge offers a tranquil and peaceful setting in the Drakensberg mountains. Mendoza , welcomed us at arrival and his service throughout our stay was magnificent, making our stay super special. Our stable room was spacious, cozy, comfortable and loved the fireplace. The outside hanging-chairs are super relaxing while enjoying the surrounds. The food, (breakfast and dinner) thanks to chefs Precious and Cindy, was just at another level, in short excellent. The wine cellar offered a good variety of wines to compliment our dinner. The team always accommodating and helpful with Milo the resident dog adding a special homely touch.

We visited Qambathi on a recommendation to celebrate a birthday and what a treat it was! Our first but certainly not last visit. The setting is magical and we were spoilt to get a room upgrade, so looked out to zebra and buck grazing against a stunning mountain backdrop. Steven, Nadia and staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble to make us feel comfortable and at home. The chef must be complimented as the food was outstanding! See you soon Qambathi
