I give this hotel 2 stars, only because it had a nice view and a decent complimentary continental breakfast. If you don't have a car, do not stay here. Instead, spend an extra $50 EU per night and stay in Florence. You'll have more dining options, less stress and save a lot of money on taxis. The Ambrosina is high up on a very steep hill...about a 40 min walk up from the main street in Impruneta and there are no taxis in Impruneta to call if the hill is too much for you. The hotel is a 20-40 minute taxi ride to central Florence...depending on the time of day. If you can find a taxi, (even reserving one a day ahead is no guarantee the taxi will show up). Taxi fares range from $40-$60 EU one way. Uber rates are even higher. You can get to Florence by bus too, but it's a 20-25 minute walk from the hotel to the bus stop and another 20-30 minute ride to the bus station in florence -then you need to find your way to sightseeing attractions or to your day tour meeting spot We stayed in room 305. We had access to a nice terrace and the room was clean but it was also small and tired. It felt Cramped for floor space due to stairs leading to terrace and Some Ceiling lights did not work /were burnt out despite alerting front desk staff. Walls were very thin too. The neighbors snoring and partying was a problem. There was no phone in the room either, so to ask hotel staff to deal with the neighbor or answer questions about the wifi, the safe or taxis you must go to the front desk in person. Front desk staff answered direct questions but we're not overly helpful. The bathroom set up was poor too. It had a good hairdryer and good water pressure /hot water but the Shower door was awkward and heavy and there was no shelf for toiletries...just a tiny table next to the bidet. Yuk. We won't stay there again. I think there have to be better options out there.
