During my recent 10-day vacation, I stayed at four different budget hotels, and unfortunately, Sunwapta Lodge was the most expensive yet the least satisfactory experience. The room was notably cramped, with minimal space to move around comfortably. The lack of sufficient power outlets made charging devices a challenge, reflecting a lack of consideration for modern traveler needs. Additionally, the hotel employs an outdated system where guests must present a token for breakfast, a practice that feels cumbersome and out of place. Speaking of breakfast, the quality was disappointing, falling short of even basic expectations. The absence of Wi-Fi in rooms is another significant drawback, with connectivity only available in the lobby and restaurant. This indicates a reluctance to invest in necessary infrastructure, such as router extensions, to ensure better coverage. On the positive side, the staff at Sunwapta Lodge were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, which provided a small relief amidst the less-than-ideal facilities. Overall, despite the commendable service, the hotel's shortcomings in comfort, technology, and amenities overshadowed the experience.
