This is my personal opinion.
I am a smoker, so when I book a hotel, the most important thing is whether smoking is allowed or not.
This hotel allows smoking in some rooms, so naturally I chose and booked a room that allows smoking.
However, when I got there, there was no ashtray in the room, and when I asked the front desk for an ashtray, they said "there is none." When I asked what that meant, they said that only electronic cigarettes are allowed. When I said that it didn't say anything like that when I made the reservation, they said that the hotel's website says that only electronic cigarettes are allowed. I booked through TripAdvisor, so I didn't see it, but there was nothing I could do about it, so I went from my room on the third floor to the ashtray outside the entrance every time to smoke. If it had been raining, snowing, hot, or cold outside, I would have been furious.
I booked thinking that smoking was allowed in the room, so I feel like I was deceived.
While thinking that, I looked at the hotel information provided in the room and found three strange things, so I will post them here.
The first thing is the breakfast information. It says that reservations must be made in advance by the day before. When I ordered breakfast around 11:30pm, I was told that the deadline for ordering was 10pm. If that's the case, I wish they had written that the deadline was 10pm from the beginning.
Second, there is a self-service amenity corner. There are no razors. They are sold at the front desk for 200 yen.
Third, smoking is only allowed in smoking rooms...
It is written in the room guide. It doesn't say e-cigarettes only.
When I first asked the front desk about smoking, they said that the hotel's website and other sites say that e-cigarettes only are allowed, so I thought it might be a mistake on Trip.com's part, but the room guide doesn't say that e-cigarettes only are allowed, so I think it's the hotel's fault.
No one at the hotel noticed, they didn't do anything, and they just said sorry.
This hotel was disappointing, leaving me with nothing but distrust.
