We had a great experience from day one. Suzanne was awesome with communication via email and the lady on site from Crete (sorry i forget her name) was also awesome with help and communication. There was a ferry strike and they totally helped us avoid any travel issues

The Mandraki Beach resort is situated on the beautiful island of Hydra. The resort itself was stunning and tranquil. The staff were so kind, friendly and helpful, really going the extra mile to provide a five star experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the menu was definitely in keeping with the resort's high standards. The rooms were wonderful, so spacious and comfortable with all the amenities you would need for your stay. We were so impressed with the hotel and the service we received. Thank you Mandraki beach!

My recent stay at Mandraki was anything but the relaxing seaside retreat I’d envisioned. Despite the beautiful location, the experience was ruined by a pervasive, overwhelming smell of burnt plastic and chemicals that lingered everywhere in the hotel. The scent was not just unpleasant—it felt hazardous. I’m unsure of the source, but the toxic smell seemed to fill every hallway, room, and even outdoor spaces around the hotel, making it hard to find any relief. Opening windows helped only slightly, and at times, the fumes were so intense they caused headaches and even made breathing uncomfortable. While I appreciate the staff's effort to maintain a clean and welcoming environment, the smell was beyond masking or ignoring. It's concerning that such a harmful scent was allowed to permeate the entire property, posing potential health risks to guests. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this hotel to anyone until this serious issue is fully addressed and resolved. Pros: Great location Cons: Toxic, overpowering smell, potentially harmful air quality. Overall: Avoid until resolved. This hotel, despite its positive aspects, is currently unsafe for a comfortable stay.

My husband and I recently had a deeply disappointing experience while visiting the beautiful island of Hydra in early July. We were staying near Mandraki Bay, thankfully not at the five-star resort but close by. One evening, we decided to have dinner at Captain M Restaurant, which had looked idyllic online, and made a reservation. We arrived just five minutes after our reserved time, only to be met with unexpected arrogance. As soon as we walked in, a rude man informed us that we had lost our reservation because we were late—despite the fact that we were only five minutes behind schedule! The restaurant was nearly empty, with hardly any other guests in sight. When we politely suggested dining at the bar, he actually laughed at us. My husband asked to speak to the manager, only to be told, quite dismissively, that he was the manager and that there was nothing he could do for us. The entire interaction left us feeling incredibly unwelcome, as if they had no interest in accommodating us, even with an empty restaurant. We have never experienced such rude treatment before, and frankly, no one deserves to be treated in this way. Needless to say, we will never be returning to this place. Fortunately, we ended up dining at a lovely tavern near our hotel, where the food was delicious, the service was warm, and everything was perfect. We have no idea why the staff at Mandraki Resort behave so rudely, but if they continue to treat guests and clients this way, their future certainly doesn't look promising.

Last summer we visited some friends who were planning to host their vow renewal at this hotel, and after spending a few hours there, it's clear that this place is not worth the money. While we didn’t stay overnight, our time at the hotel was enough to notice several major issues. The atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming, definitely not ideal for a romantic or special event. Our friends were excited about the location, but we could see their disappointment setting in as the hours passed. If you're considering this place for a special occasion, I would strongly advise you to reconsider. It lacks the warmth and quality you'd expect from a venue meant to host something as significant as a vow renewal or even wedding. There are better options out there for the price. As well as, Madraki Beach Resort was absolutely infested with flies. Whether we were in the lobby, restaurant, or even in our friends' room, flies were EVERYWHERE. The hotel clearly doesn’t put enough effort into keeping the place clean and hygienic. I can't recommend this place to anyone—especially if you care about cleanliness. Save your money and book somewhere else.

We spent several days at the hotel but didn’t stay there - we had a villa nearby. The dinner we had at the Captain M restaurant was excellent, and I would definitely suggest coming here even just for a meal. The hotel is meticulously and impeccably maintained. Everything was clean and in order although it was the end of the season and there were only a handful of guests. The staff was extremely friendly and hospitable. The location and atmosphere are unparalleled- in a small bay just a 20 minute walk from Hydra town. A sea shuttle is available if you don’t want to walk… this is a great beach resort on a lovely Island.

Mandraki was very disappointing. First the positives: the staff are very friendly and Hydra is lovely. The ferry to and from the port is handy too. The negatives are however very significant. The “hotel” is in reality a series of rooms behind a beach club. There is one restaurant for the beach club where you can have breakfast and lunch and dinner. Every day, extraordinary numbers of day trippers are shipped in by the hotel itself to the (small) hotel beach. It is extremely noisy and unrelaxing. The beach is far too small for the numbers of people and far from being some kind of relaxing idyll it is noisy and unrelaxing. The rooms are fine but simple with tiny bathrooms with little privacy. For the prices charged - 1500 euros a night or more - you simply do not get what you pay for. It is far from a luxury experience and you are left wondering why you paid 1500 euros a night when you could have just paid 50 euros to spend the day there and would have received all the same amenities. If you want a relaxing break this is not the place for it.

the only great thing about this hotel was the masseuse, a very kind and efficient professional woman who treated both my friend and I with a smile. Apart from that, waiters are not polite, the food was served cold and the bread was dry and old. Wine list was far from informed and flies were flying above our plates. A very unpleasant situation, and a manager who does not care about clientele. Even in Paris waiters are more polite.
