My husband and I recently had a deeply disappointing experience while visiting the beautiful island of Hydra in early July. We were staying near Mandraki Bay, thankfully not at the five-star resort but close by. One evening, we decided to have dinner at Captain M Restaurant, which had looked idyllic online, and made a reservation. We arrived just five minutes after our reserved time, only to be met with unexpected arrogance. As soon as we walked in, a rude man informed us that we had lost our reservation because we were late—despite the fact that we were only five minutes behind schedule! The restaurant was nearly empty, with hardly any other guests in sight. When we politely suggested dining at the bar, he actually laughed at us. My husband asked to speak to the manager, only to be told, quite dismissively, that he was the manager and that there was nothing he could do for us. The entire interaction left us feeling incredibly unwelcome, as if they had no interest in accommodating us, even with an empty restaurant. We have never experienced such rude treatment before, and frankly, no one deserves to be treated in this way. Needless to say, we will never be returning to this place. Fortunately, we ended up dining at a lovely tavern near our hotel, where the food was delicious, the service was warm, and everything was perfect. We have no idea why the staff at Mandraki Resort behave so rudely, but if they continue to treat guests and clients this way, their future certainly doesn't look promising.
