Courtyard Huntsville University Drive

I made it maybe 45 minutes in this hotel before I checked out. Fortunately, because of my Marriott status I was not charged one night's stay. Rough looking exterior and the lobby was in the process of being renovated, which is fine no big deal. While in my room I was struggling to get the Wi-Fi to work when the A/C unit spitter spattered before eventually cutting off altogether.

TLDR, if you are a frequent Marriott visitor, this isn't the property for you. I stay at Marriott properties frequently for business trips, and the street you have to turn on is easy to miss, but no big deal. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, but again, no big deal. Entering the lobby, it looks like any other Marriott property, very nice lobby, with the evening hotel recepient engrossed in a conversation on her cell phone, but the check-in process went smooth. It was downhill from there. Walking from the lobby to the hallway leading to the rooms/elevators, you're transported back into the late 90's. After walking a while and finally making it to the elevator (which is incredibly loud) I got out on my floor, and there was absolutely no AC in the hallway so you're met with heat and humidity until you get to the room. The door to the room when open sand down off of the hinges when opened, so to close is required quite a bit of extra force to close and secure. The actual room on the surface was nice and looked like any standard Marriott hotel room. Like I said before I'm here on business, and have to have Wifi in the room, and spent over an hour trying to get it to work, called the front desk (same person who checked me in) and was told a tech would call, but never received a call. I went down into the lobby to see if I could get the wifi to work there with no luck, all while the same front desk receptionist was sitting in the lobby with a friend just chatting it up having a good old time. I gave up at this point and it was time for bed but that where the fun began. I go to lay down and notice blood on pillow cases and duvet. At that point I made the decision to check out int the morning and to go and stay at another property. For those of you considering a stay at a Marriott property, this isn't the one I would recommend or consider.

This was by far the worst experience I’ve had with Marriott. I had a three-night reservation at this hotel, and from the start, the carpet had a noticeable odor. The situation became unacceptable on the second day when I discovered a cockroach in my room. I documented it with a photo and reported the issue to management immediately. My company’s travel team was also informed and, due to the unsanitary conditions, moved me to another nearby hotel. Despite this, the Courtyard still charged me for the third night and refused to cooperate with my travel team to resolve the matter. I expected much better from Marriott, and this experience was deeply disappointing.

The rooms needed updating and carpet was bad, property was under renovations. Staff was amazing at check-in. Tv was great. Pricing for room was fair.

We almost didn't find the hotel because the outside sign was burned out and we couldn't find the location on our GPS. Upon our late arrival, the desk clerk was exceptionally nice. We searched for the elevator (our room was on the 3rd floor) and had to loop back to the desk to ask again for directions and finally found that the elevator is waaaaay in the back of the hotel. We were told to park on the side and use the side doors to be closer to the elevator. The cards did not work the outside doors and had to walk back around the dark building to the front to be told that other guests were sticking coins in the door to hold it open, which to me invited unregistered guests into the building, making it unsafe. The room was very clean, but also very dated. There were long black hairs all in the shower, but otherwise the room was clean. The bed was as hard as bricks and the pillows so soft and flimsy we had to double them to provide any height for our heads. We were at a volleyball tournament all the next day to come back and find the cards still did not work the outside doors. The ice machine was broken on our floor and there was no vending available. We tried to get breakfast the next morning but was told they were out of yogurt but offered to provide fruit instead. The oversized TV was very blurry and had no clear picture, but our name on the display was a nice touch. The second night we still found it hard to find the hotel as the light was burned out. The three employees we dealt with were extremely pleasant, but the amenities overall is why I gave it a poor review.
