Gaël and Cecile are truly the most gracious hosts. We so enjoyed meeting them, and Gaël had wonderful recommendations in the area. The restaurant recommendations sent beforehand are particularly helpful, as are the activity recommendations. Gael was so kind to set up a private wine tasting in the cellar for us (we weren’t staying on a Wednesday, when it is typically held), and we very much enjoyed. The pool is lovely and has great drink options (water, soda, wine, beer). We loved the Poseidon room. Very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Remember that the chateau is a listed building, which means it does not have AC. We had a fan in our room, which helped a lot, and the temps dropped into the upper 50s at night in late July/early August (a heat wave with temps approaching mid to upper 80s during the day). Just something to remember. Our bathroom was huge and had a great shower. We particularly appreciated the drying rack in the bathroom to dry towels, bathing suits, etc. For planning purposes, check in is typically 4-7p. Great location and is about 10 minutes to Chambord, 20 to Cheverny, about 1 hour to Villandry (if here in August, don’t miss Night of A Thousand Candles), 50 minutes to Chenonceau. We loved our stay at the chateau and hope to return! Would highly recommend.
