I was with a large group of friends, only two of whom could speak Chinese, but that didn't bother me as the owner knew English too. GGuest UserHongcun Yushan mountain scenery house is convenienly located near the South Gate of Hongcun Scenic area. We booked courtyard B which is located outside and behind the main hotel complex with breakfast included. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable, and had a small courtyard, but unfortunately no garden chairs or table to sit outside. In hindsight we woud book another room in the main complex next time. It has a lovely open garden and plenty of outdoor seating. I contacted the hotel before our stay and managed by using a voice translator to connect with the staff on Wechat. A friendly staff member met us at the entrance to the scenic area and entry is free of charge when you stay at the hotel. The hotel staff don't speak any English, but they were very helpful and friendly and we got along fine using Wechat and other translators. I won't recommend eating dinner at the hotel as there are many local Chinese restaurants in the ancient village. The hotel offers a coffee shop in the lobby and has a number of options, like Americano, Latte etc. The coffee is very good, but I felt it was a bit pricey for the cup size. The hotel breakfast is Chinese with no Western options, and it is served in unique way in a tray. I enjoyed the breakfast, but my husband would have liked more western options. On our arrival the room was already pre-heated and the beds in the room were comfortable. It was snowing lightly when we arrived and there were umbrellas available in the room. They also provide vanity items. We visited just before the Chinese New Year tourist rush at the beginning of the holiday and this was a very good location and time to visit despite the cold weather. The ancient village was not too crowded and it was nice to walk around in the evenings and daytime with the hotel is situated conveniently right next to the South lake. Drone flying is allowed which can give drone flyers an aerial view of the village. Depending on your iterinary a one night stay is sufficient to visit Hongcun and the nearby Xidi ancient village then move on to another hotel at the foot or top of the mountain or Tunxi village. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend this hotel to travelers wanting a good hotel experience in Hongcun.

It’s a very short walk to the mountain entrance and the host was very helpful with giving advice for hiking routes, buying tickets, and recommending restaurants. He also speaks fluent English, which is nice for international travelers.

GGuest UserMy family and I (5 of us) recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming homestay in Hongcun for two days and one night, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building, steeped in history at 400 years old, is located relatively close to the West entrance, making access a breeze. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and well-kept. Although I initially booked three specific rooms, they were unavailable due to renovation. However, I was provided with three other rooms that turned out to be more spacious, which was a delightful surprise.
The lobby felt incredibly welcoming, with a cozy living-room-style atmosphere. There’s a lovely café to the left and a souvenir shop to the right, adding a nice touch of convenience and charm as you walk toward the living area. Wan Jie (elder sister Wan), the host, was truly hospitable and attentive. Her warmth shone through from our first phone call, which she answered cheerfully while helping arrange our pickup, as cars aren’t allowed into Hongcun, a UNESCO Heritage Site.
One of the highlights of this homestay was the restaurant nestled in a ”secret” garden—a serene and picturesque spot where my family and I could have happily spent more time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, adding to the overall experience. Though it was too cool to use during my visit, the homestay also features a pool that would be perfect for summer days.
At the end of our stay, Wan Jie went above and beyond by accompanying us to the village exit to wait for our driver, ensuring everything went smoothly before saying her goodbyes. It’s rare to experience such personalized hospitality, and it made a memorable impression on us.
Based on my positive experience, I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Hongcun. It’s a unique blend of history, comfort, and genuine hospitality that truly enhances the visit.

LLydiascapesMy stay in Tingquan Xiaoyuan has been absolutely delightful.
I booked a long stay here as a retreat and break from the work and it is exactly everything I need to unwind and recharge.
The guesthouse ran by a husband and wife team are so hospitable and go the extra mile to make sure my stay here is relaxing and I have everything I need to work and go about my day.
The room i am staying in is very brightly lighted with a desk for me to work. I have to say the bed is also very comfortable and I have been sleeping well every night.
The surrounding is so peaceful and tranquil, with gardens and flowers and mountain peaks in the distance. I am rather glad I am staying here in the valley instead of near the centre.
In terms of service, the boss is very helpful and responsive to my messages when we need to ask any question or require a pick up after the hikes. The lady boss is similarly extremely friendly, warm and kind and ensure my needs and well being is looked after every day. She cared for me like her own family.
I really appreciate them going the extra mile to help a foreigner like me who struggle with the language.
I would strongly recommend this lovely and cosy guesthouse to any local and foreigner who is looking for an amazing visit to Huangshan for a few days or up to a month. They will ensure you are well taken care of and your stay is absolutely delightful.

GGuest UserUnfortunately, I didn't take any photos of the hotel! It's perfectly situated at the foot of Mount Huangshan. The hotel offers a convenient shuttle service to the transfer center, which is less than a 5-minute drive away. From there, you can easily catch buses to both the Yuping and Yungu cable car stations. On your way back, the return bus drops you off directly at Tangkou Ridge, right opposite the hotel's main entrance.
The hotel rooms are very comfortable. In the lobby, dedicated travel specialists are on hand to help plan your itinerary and even assist guests unfamiliar with online booking to purchase tickets. The staff were all incredibly warm and helpful, and the complimentary sour plum drink in the lobby was a delightful touch.

The staff at the reception gave us a warm welcome and the information that was given on possible trips in the area was interesting and complete.
The hotel is located just outside Tangkouzhen, a nice 15 minutes walk from the bus terminal. We loved the fact the hotel neighbourhood was relatively quiet. Just next door and opposite the hotel you can find supermarkets and restaurants.
The reception is very helpful in arranging transport to and from the hotel. Various times we made use of shared car trips. The chauffeurs were polite, service minded and punctual. The transfer costs per person were also very reasonable.
The room was spacious and well equipped. We liked the fact that there was a little refridgerator in the room and a free water and cola drink on the house. The airconditioning was okay. We watched a few movies on the television and loved the variety of good movies to choose from.
The breakfastbuffet was good and there was great variety of food. Baozi, steamed jiaozi, rice porridge, vegetables, sweet potatoes, fried noodles and fries rice etc.
It is also very convenient that the restaurant is also serving lunch and dinner dishes. The menu really looks good and the prices are reasonable.
We thank the hotel staff for giving us suggestions on our trip to Huangshan. Very informative. We really enjoyed our trip into Huangshan mountains and the old village of Hongcun.
We are grateful that you gave us a great time at Songyue Hotel. It really felt like our second home. I loved the duck they serve in the restaurant 😋

ZZiboerweikaailixiyaWhen I arrived at the station at 9pm, I had to ask the boss to pick me up. After calling the boss, the communication was very smooth. They discussed the next day's trip along the way, which was very atmospheric. The boss's assistant contacted Carpool and took charge of driving us into the mountains early in the morning. Fortunately, they had experience, otherwise it would have been troublesome for a bunch of people behind us.
The food is very simple and firm, and they take care of the taste. It's delicious!
