At Van der Valk it is normally a good place to stay, but this time I found it a bit disappointing. The room was not clean, there was still dust everywhere on the cupboards next to the bed, including in the bathroom. The beds were also not too good, sank completely into it. The room we had was close to the elevator, which caused a lot of noise from other travelers.

Helaas ging tijdens ons verblijf het brandalarm af in de nacht. Gelukkig bleek er geen brand te zijn, na afloop geen excuses gekregen en ook bij het uitchecken werd er niet gevraagd hoe onze verblijf was geweest.

Onlangs ben ik met mijn oma bij Van der Valk gaan eten. Mijn oma is erg ziek en heeft slokdarmkanker, wat eten voor haar moeilijk maakt. Helaas verslikte zij zich al bij het eerste hapje. Het personeel reageerde direct met veel begrip en respect. Zonder dat we iets hoefden te vragen, haalden ze haar maaltijd van de rekening. Dat gebaar heeft diepe indruk op ons gemaakt. Mijn oma wil haar oprechte complimenten geven aan het team voor de vriendelijke en meelevende houding. In een moeilijke situatie voelde ze zich gehoord en serieus genomen. Dank jullie wel voor deze warme service. Dat vergeten we niet.

Slechtste Van der Valk hotel! Laat ik beginnen met datgene wat goed was: diner in het restaurant! Dat was echt geweldig. Supervriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel! Zij verdienen een dikke 10. De rest: vreselijk! We hadden gekozen voor een luxe kamer. Een smerige en stoffige kamer, kapotte drukknop van het toilet, vieze lade met daarin koffie cups etc, gaten in de gordijnen, toppers met vieze vlekken op bed, geen hoes erom heen alleen een laken en dan het personeel van de receptie en lounge. Zij tonen geen enkel empatisch vermogen, alles even kil en koud. Ook ontbijt in dit hotel is niet wat we gewend zijn. Terwijl we er waren tot 2 keer toe klacht ingediend maar natuurlijk geen enkele reactie.

Ik verbleef recent in Van der Valk Utrecht-Houten en heb over het algemeen een prettig verblijf gehad. De kamer had een chique en luxe uitstraling, anders dan ik gewend ben van andere Van der Valk-hotels, en dat beviel me goed. Het bubbelbad en de fijne douche waren echte pluspunten. Het ontbijt was prima verzorgd, met een paar verrassende items die ik niet eerder bij andere vestigingen heb gezien. Ook het personeel in het restaurant was vriendelijk en snel. Wel vond ik het ontbijtgedeelte vrij krap opgezet qua ruimte en zitplaatsen. Een klein minpuntje was dat ik vroeg in de ochtend wakker werd van verbouwwerkzaamheden in de kamer naast mij. Niet heel ernstig, maar wel jammer op een kamer van bijna 200 euro per nacht. Daarnaast viel de schoonmaak tegen: er lag veel stof in de kamer en in de waterkoker zat schimmel. Dat haalde het verzorgde gevoel wat onderuit. Al met al was het een prima verblijf met veel comfort. Met wat meer aandacht voor schoonmaak en details zou ik hier zeker opnieuw overnachten.
