I usually stick to other Marriott properties, but I’m really glad I gave The Laura Hotel a try. CJ was amazing, she checked me in—her personality and helpfulness totally won me over and made the whole experience feel personal and welcoming. We stayed in a junior suite, and the balcony was absolutely stunning—definitely one of the highlights of the room. The breakfast brunch was delicious with a great variety of options, and the rooftop pool had an awesome view that made it easy to relax and enjoy the city. Parking valet is a bit pricey but adjacent to the Laura is an overnight parking ~$23 and there is a walkway connecting to the The Laura. You also get Life Time gym access if you have Bonvoy Platinum and above. Overall, a great stay. I’ll definitely consider coming back!

I had such an incredible experience at the Laura hotel that I made a commitment to myself that I would share my experience with others. First, I want to share that I planned a last minute solo trip to visit my brother in Houston for my birthday weekend. Originally, I booked a stay at a 3-star affordable hotel tucked away from downtown. That experience quickly turned into such a nightmare that ultimately I wasted hundreds of dollars on a prepaid stay because I wanted to book elsewhere. Upon checking in at Laura, I was greeted by Sharon, I believe the front desk supervisor. By the time I was checking in, which was late around 10pm, she was still upbeat, polite, friendly and incredibly helpful. She offered me two bottles of water as I was out of breath from walking up the stairs with heavy bags. Not only that, she upgraded my room and it nearly brought me to tears of joy. She didn't know it was my birthday weekend, so when she made both gestures, I share with her the surprising news. She had no idea that the most touching things she was doing would be the highlight of my experience. However, what I did not share with her is that three days later, I would be attending a funeral of a loved one. Sometimes, you never know what your guests are going through and leading with kindness can have such a profound impact on someone's lives in ways you may never realize.
