Property Description
Just 1 mile from the heart of downtown Hot Springs lies a vibrant mountain house that is nestled in a wooded grove. An inviting atmosphere to kick back and relax in this soothing, stylish space. Take in the glorious sunsets. Grill dinner and build a roaring fire under the stars. Enjoy the warmth of the hot tub on cool mornings and evenings. Our home invites you to enjoy memorable time with family and friends. An airy, light filled space to invigorate all the senses awaits your next adventure!
This comfortable house has many open and welcoming spaces for you and your guests to gather and enjoy the best of the mountains in Western North Carolina, and the great little town of Hot Springs. Inside there is a large living room with wood stove, 6 beds (plus bonus room) to snuggle down after great adventures and chilling around the house. The home was recently updated by a family who welcomes groups to gather and have fun in their home. To engage with each other, to make and share food, play music, and relax on vacation. Every detail was well thought out so that you only need to bring your clothes and groceries. This is the essence of a mountain house.
Outside living- Surprise Valley was named appropriately; when you drive up the driveway and see the view behind the house, you will be in awe. You would never guess what is beyond the sweet house in the woods. The back deck, hot tub, and fire pit area are located above a wildlife pond and open farm that extends Westward to a beautiful mountain panorama. There are cows in the field, different species of birds visiting the pond, and breath taking sunsets to behold.
The front porch is perched above the wooded front hillside with comfortable seating. A great place to look for songbirds and listen to the wind in the trees.
Master bedroom- Light filled room with a King bed and ensuite bathroom, with closet
2nd bedroom- Cozy room surrounded by trees with a Queen bed, with closet
3rd bedroom- Centered on the main floor with Two bunk beds; 4 single beds total
**Special Note- Top bunks are suitable for kids and small adults only with a weight limit.
Extra sleeping Loft- Two twin beds in a space that is open to the living room and kitchen below; wooden ladder access to the loft space
Master bathroom- Modernized full bathroom with shower
Guest bathroom- Full bathroom with clawfoot soaking tub and shower combo
Living Room- A comfortable open space with vaulted ceilings, L-shaped couch, TV, and wood stove.
The home includes many of the basic things you will need while visiting, including all linens, towels, dish soap, laundry soap, trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, and small shampoos/conditioners. If you forget any essentials at home or need to replenish anything during your stay, there is a Dollar General in Hot Springs and a few other small shops that are open daily and convenient to the property.
Even though you may feel like there is no one else around, the home is situated in a rural neighborhood with normal sounds of kids and pets and cows mooing in the adjacent fields.
Hot Springs is a great destination in all seasons! The weather can be mild compared to higher mountains and roads are tended in the wintertime. The Hot Springs Spa is open year-around for hot mineral soaks. Restaurants and shops are open as well, and we love to hike the Lover's Leap trail on cool, sunny days when things are a bit quieter around here.
Summer is a wonderful season to enjoy many things to do outside, including rafting and tubing and venturing up to Max Patch Bald. The pace is slow and easy around town, and Hot Springs is also a great central location for day trips to Asheville, Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, Waynesville, and many more adventurous locations.
Spring sees beautiful mountain wildflowers and hikers traveling through on the Appalachian Trail. The weather can go from 80-degree days to a dusting of snow and anywhere in between.
Fall never disappoints with endless potentials to see the trees changing at different elevations and finishing your day with a fire and soak in the natural hot springs (or your own private hot tub) or a beverage at Big Pillow Brewing.
A local management company is available to assist you if you need anything during your stay.

Wonderful trip
Came to Hot Springs to meet my daughter and son-in-law of the Appalachian Trail. Couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. Close to town with all the amenities! Beautiful peaceful place. But the townspeople were so friendly and a wonderful time was had by all of us!

Son’s wedding weekend!
Amazing house! We will come back to Hot Springs just to stay here! Perfect location, very peaceful sitting by the fire pit drinking coffee watching the wildlife. I have never stayed in a “Home” that was so well equipped. The hosts were extremely responsive, as I had several questions. One of our best stays ever!

Wonderful pond & mountains view, fresh interiors & furnishings
House, inside and out, is immaculate, well done. The floorplan is spacious with fresh/new decor, comfortable furniture & beds, great kitchen, and new looking appliances. Living room is well laid out for big screen TV viewing with 2 large sofas. We didn't use the hot tub but it had been prepared for guests and was located for the view. The view to the large pond and mountains is extraordinary. We liked the convenient 1 mile distance to Hot Springs and quiet, secluded property with well maintained driveway. First rate in every way, including host communications. (Minor faults include a bit tricky, raised, concrete square stepping stones and ....no others come to mind! All around comfortable and stylish and easy.

Cozy, Comfy and Convenient!
This cabin is a gem with a great view! It is nicely furnished, the kitchen has great appliances and is fully equipped to prepare and serve meals. The beds are comfortable and everything was super clean! Our family came into town to do some hiking and the hot tub was a great way to unwind!

Wonderful Retreat - Book It!
This home was amazing for our family & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Of course, the backyard sunset views were amazing, pictures don't do it justice. The owner & hosts were very responsive and helpful with age appropriate activity suggestions with our 3 year old. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking our meals and grilling. I was worried about grocery options, so we picked up food on our way at Ingles in Marshall, but the Dollar General in town had plenty of selection for things we forgot to grab. We enjoyed the hot tub, roasted marshmallows in the firepit, played games provided, and spent a LOT of time on the front porch swing! We did the 3hr mountain trail ride with Sandy Bottom Trail Rides (do it!), checked out Dudley Falls and of course Hot Springs was wonderful. We will definitely book this property again. If you're still on the fence, just book it! You will not regret it. Thank you for the wonderful memories!!!

Close to town and quiet
House was clean and comfortable. Everything was as promised. My only warning on the house is that the drive is a little steep but nothing to bad. I would definitely stay again. Also the empty field made a great view of to the mountains.

Nice stay in Hot Springs
The house was well stocked and comfortable for our family of six, and probably could have accommodated a couple more folks. It was less than a mile from the little town of Hot Springs which had a few good eateries, a brewery with live music(some nights), and a small market. Essentially, all activities are outdoors, including hiking and swimming. We had a wonderful day renting a pontoon boat for tubing on Lake Douglas(TN) about an hour away.
