Good sized rooms, friendly staff and good parking. Hotel is easy to find from the M42. My one criticism is that they have penny pinched in the bathroom. There are just two containers. One is hand soap by the basin and then a poor quality all purpose cleanser by the bath. Would it really be so expensive to provide shampoo or a bar of soap. Spoilt what would otherwise have been a good experience.

Stayed for one night and as other people have commented, it is “quite tired”, but for the 1 night it was cheap. On entry, the smell reminded me of carpet cleaning products and the doors were very 80s style. To get to our room was 3 lots of stairs, unsure if accessible by any lift. The room was ok, again, reminded me of hotels about 20 years ago. There was only 1 large towel in the bathroom, it was not until after it was required that we found the extra towels in the cupboard, but by default, put 2 towels out in the bathroom. Light switches were odd what they turned on in the room. Water pressure on shower not great. Angle of the tv not great … indeed, looked like frame too small to support the size of Tv, so could not be set at the right angle. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, which was ok, and had an early departure. Bed was fine… Access to Wi-Fi was fine…

Room was spot on, dinner outstanding, breakfast was delicious, prices very fair and the hotel itself is wonderful. My only issue was in the morning I came down for breakfast and the overwhelming smell cleaning chemicals just took my breath away. It was overkill, it was that strong it affected my son’s asthma so I had to take him home. Surely there is some kind policy against using that sort of strong chemical. I only bring this up because of my son, or that could have been someone else with a more serious health condition.

Great place for meetings, but the strong smell of cleaning chemicals, mainly bleach and floral smells in the mornings is so overwhelming and off putting. I know you have to be clean but this needs to be toned down, it’s overpowering. Food is great, good choice of drinks and atmosphere is spot on. Would recommend, just calm down or stop with the cleaning chemicals.

We book for 2 nights but left early. Our room was comfortable, clean, good size though maybe a little tired. Its main issue is it overlooks the main road at the front of the hotel and suffered from 24hr traffic noise, understandably affecting our sleep. The UHT milk on the tea station went out of date before we arrived so I chucked it all in the bin. Hardly the experience we expected having booked a suite. The whole hotel was clean, spacious, modern looking and the toilets were really clean. We decided to use the bar and restaurant on the first night as we were tired from traveling, so booked a table at reception and went to the bar for a drink. The bar was completely empty and I had to go looking for staff (this was a common event for a few guests). At our table booking time I asked at the bar about our booking and we were escorted to the restaurant, given our menus and after a few minutes our orders were taken with the waiter disappearing back to the bar where he had been whilst we were in the bar. Food came and was great, good food, good size and piping hot, this was the last time we saw a waiter. Having finished our meal after 20 minutes wait, I managed to locate a dessert menu. After waiting with no sign of the waiter reappearing, we opted to call it a night. Throughout the evening, though the barman was really helpful, we were not the only customers getting up to find staff. We went elsewhere the second day. Breakfast is waiter service only apart from tea, coffee, milk, apple and orange juice where you can help yourself. It took 50 minutes to get two cooked breakfasts, with other tables getting their food before us even though we ordered first. The food was good but we did not get the advertised mushrooms or brown toast I had asked for. We did not bother with breakfast the second day. As a regular traveller I understand the importance of a business being cost effective and minimising waste, however the whole breakfast setup appeared overly complicated, with the staff having to do everything and no real option for us to help ourselves to basics like toast, cereal etc. All the staff were polite, helpful and always apologising to us for having to wait. It is very clear that there is not enough staff, what staff they have are just running around very busily and details are getting missed. Sorry but I would not stay here again, I need my sleep.

I’ve been visiting this hotel for years, usually and itt used to have such a warm, welcoming feel, with staff who remembered your name and genuinely cared. Sadly, that’s changed. On my most recent visit, the whole vibe felt off. Staff seemed tense, service was slow, and the usual friendliness was missing. I waited nearly 20 minutes before someone took my order, and when the coffee finally arrived, it was lukewarm and bitter. The sandwich? Dry and overpriced for what it was. What struck me most, though, was the presence of a sharply dressed man in a full suit sitting silently in the corner of the lounge, observing everyone like he was running a board meeting rather than a hospitality venue. Staff clearly noticed him to.they looked nervous and distracted, whispering in corners when not darting around. It’s a shame :(. The hotel used to feel like a hidden gem, but now it’s giving corporate chain energy, with none of the charm that made it special. I really hope they find their way back to what made this place so lovely in the first place ....

First of all, this was a surprise for my wife. A weekend getaway i picked from a lot of hotels. Firstly the receptionist was not very polite ,did not seem to care who you where. The room I had booked did not match the description as stated. The safe was not working to lock valuables. There was no iron and ironing board. On entering the room was freezing as where all the corridors, the bar and dining areas. No bottled water or extra blanket on bed and no local paper .After complaining ,the manager moved us from room 3 to room 1,how lucky we was .Room 1 had no phone or blanket or slippers ,so we took from room 3.but heater in room 1 only half worked and to be fair we left on through the day and was no better in warming the room up. On a plus side Evening meal and staff where excellent as was our first breakfast as it was buffet style due to a large wedding at the hotel. We did have a fire alarm GO OFF and made our way to the front of the hotel through the car park and yet when we got there ,there was no interest or anyone explaining at the front desk what had happened and it was turned off. Our room was cleaned he second day ,no water left or local paper again, our breakfast was a sit down due to only a few people left at the hotel.so you would think easy to manage as only about 8 people including us. We got drinks first , the coffee and tea was cold and orange juice warm, We sat for a while then asked if we wanted toast .LATER I ordered a full English with no mushroom and my wife the same with mushroom but no tomato, we where both given the wrong plates and had to send them back as both had no beans on, I ordered normal toast and my wife gluten free toast ,again both got wrong toast. It took about 35 minutes from first sitting to getting our breakfast . No one explained the Wifi system and had to ask reception. There are no complimentary toiletries only what was on the wall. The manager Rodrigo was helpful and polite along with some of his staff. It looked more like a ghost hotel with some sad looking staff. Rooms are cold looking and they are, plus they need a revamp. Dressing gowns rock hard. POOR VALUE FOR MONEY
