The Inn is lovated in a scenic spot at Hope Valley - right by the reservoir. Its hard to miss and definitely tempts with its welcoming atmosphere. I had a prawn cocktail starter, which was a siprisingly big portion, and a side of chips. My parnter enjoyed the bangers n mash which looked yum! The staff were lovely and helpful - they provided us lots of bottled water in preparation for our continued hike across the headland.

The food was great, the rooms were spotless and nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff serving in the bar, serving food and room service staff. It was my brother’s 80th birthday and our stay was excellent. We used the Yorkshire bridge as a base to visit Chatsworth, Crich tram museum ( excellent value for money) and the Kelham island museum in Sheffield.

Eaten here several times and enjoyed our meals but this time was different. I ordered a selection of starters to be served with my husband's main, his steak was good ( I enquired if the steak was British before I ordered but they didn't know ) but the chips were frozen . My pate was a slice of supermarket pate with bought onion chutney and bread, I don't expect to have to pay £9 for this . The garlic mushrooms were served on toast and had no garlic taste and had been sat waiting too long before they were served hence they were only warm and the toast had gone to a soggy mess. Another hot starter was also only luke warm. It was over 10 mins before the waitress came to check on us after serving and even though I said the starters were cool when they were brought out she didn't seem too concerned or apologetic. A second waitress cleared the plates and even though a lot was sent back didn't ask if there was a problem with the food, The pub wasn't busy as it was early evening but staff weren't attentive or easy to find. The only plus was the steak, beer and wine .

We had an evening meal at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn on the side of the Lady Bower Reservoir. Service was quick and efficient, menu had plenty of choice, food was delicious, staff were very pleasant and the pub had a good atmosphere catering for all ages, and whatever pastime from a game of darts to board games, all with a good pint. The Lady Bower is the lowest of three reservoirs in the Derwent Valley, the upper one being most famous for where the trials took place to develop the bouncing bomb during World War II - there was much memorabilia to that event on the walls and even a special brew!

Booked online which was easy & got confirmation straight away, this was the only thing that was. Arrived at the pub & couldn't find a member of staff to let them know we had a booking, staff on the bar ignore you, aswell as serving staff. Eventually got so eones attention & was told its table 2, this table was situated right in a busy door way, we asked if there was another table was we did not want to sit o a doorway, the member of staff (a young girl) ask another member of staff who's responce was whatever ill look, found us another table quite easily. Told the table number, we went to sit down, was not given any menus or asked if we wanted a drink. Was not told how to order, or of any specials that were on, when we asked what the soup of the day was staff member did not know & had to go & find out. I want you order no one on the bar to take order, gad to waite around 5 minutes to get served as the gentleman who eventually arrived behind the bar was busy filling the water jug, this was clearly more important then taking a customers order. I ordered & returned to our table. Order came reasonable quickly, however I'd ordered a gluton free & a non gluton free creamy mushroom. When they came both were gluton free & then a third one came out, which we sent back. Staff bringing food out did not seem to know what table they were serving too. Mains came out & were correct & food was nice but nothing special. When we went to pay we had been charged for 3 starters even though we had sent this back, staff member corrected this but no apology for the error. Paid & left will not be returning & would not recommend, staff are unattractive & rude.

Thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay. Our room was lovely, modern and clean. The food and choice of guest ales all worthy of a high five. The surrounding views are stunning with numerous walks from the doorstep of this well appointed, successfully managed Inn. All this plus the addition of on site parking cinched it for us. Can’t recommend enough.

I arranged a recent business meeting at The Yorkshire Bridge Inn, but wished I had gone elsewhere. Things started well; the online booking system was faultless and I received a text message reminding me of the booking, which I confirmed. However, when I arrived at the appointed time I was eventually acknowledged at the bar and when I mentioned I had a table reservation I was told that the table was 'over there' and the person pointed in its general direction. My name wasn't taken and I went over to sit down, without being handed any menus. After a few minutes I sent a message to my client to let them know that I was at a table and found out that they had already arrived, but were taken to a different table. If the person at the bar had bothered to ask my name and also to ask my client whose name the booking was in I would have been taken straight to the table where my client was already installed. So, initial impressions were poor. Then, I go back to the bar to order drinks. Again, totally ignored (not even acknowledged); eventually, I did get served. I go back to order food and, again, lacklustre service from disinterested staff. As for the food? We had the Halloumi Flatbread, which comprised some delicious halloumi cheese and a side salad, but the flatbread was very poor: dry and flaky, verging on being stale. For context, I make my own flatbreads and I know exactly what a fresh one looks like. Through uni I also worked in bars and hotels, and I know how you should serve customers. After the meeting I paid the bill and did not tip, and have no plans to return.

Returning again to “Our Special Place” for the 6th time since we got engaged whilst staying in 2015. John and his team are truly exceptional hosts. Amazing location! Backed up by excellent rooms and great quality traditional food offerings, with chef’s specialties and supporting local suppliers too. Always a pleasure and delight to return! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
