Park Motel

A disaster! Upon arriving we were given a room on ground level. Turning on the sink tap the drain was completly blocked. The owner spent a good 30 minutes to unplug it, leaving puddles of water on the bathroom floor. We spent a further half hour trying to get hot water which the owner managed by turning on the bathtub tap. On our third day the maid did not clean our room or make the bed, or change the towels - she just didn't show up. Needless to say we will not stay here again

I would give this review a caveat that the 4 stars is “for Hope”. That is, it would probably warrant a 3 elsewhere, but I got the sense this was good… “for Hope”. Pros: central to everything, short walking distance from the downtown park, very friendly and responsive owner, room recently renovated, good price, bed was comfortable, A/C very responsive Cons: the cleaning was lacking (the bathroom ceiling fan was filthy and seemed to host a lot of little spiders)

I've written over 300 reviews on Tripadvisor and very rarely give a 2. My reasons for giving The Park a 2 is not to hurt the owner, but rather is to give travelers my honest opinion of the place and to give them a heads-up. Most of the reviews were really good, so I booked one night on our recent road trip, but we would not stay here again. If reviewers are giving this place a 4 (very good) or a 5 (excellent) it pains me to think what kind of places they are accustomed to. If this is the best Hope has to offer, we'll drive on past to Chillawack next time. Pros: it was quiet and the room was clean, the bed was pretty comfortable and the guy at the desk was friendly. Cons: three of six bulbs were out in the bathroom light bar, a bulb was out in one of the overhead lights in the room, the toilet seat was loose to the point of being broken (I tried to tighten it to no avail), there was no ice in the lobby, there were little flies in the bathroom of unknown origin because the window screens and the door were closed, we had to ask for drinking glasses, and the outside of the place needs A LOT of work (visually it's a dump). We won't stay at the Park again.

We have stayed at a few different hotels in Hope, and this is the only one I would go back to. First off, it was very clean. While some of the furniture was a little dated, (aren’t all motels lol) but the beds were so comfortable. Definitely the best sleep I’ve had in a hotel. Best of all this motel is quiet. We live in a quiet town, and just can’t get used to traffic sounds. I will recommend this motel.

the toilet lid was soooo loose that I nearly fell off - the 2 towel racks in the bathroom were bent in the middle - the railing going to the 2nd floor was very loose & the step-guard was 1/2 off.... the pillows were thin - flat & old... certainly not worth the $$$ they charged..... the place was a DUMP - will NEVER stay here again..... Wonder if they ever fixed anything as I left this list in the office key drop off box.... The bed was comfy & the towels were clean & white....

It's the little things that makes all the difference, especially when road tripping around N America with motels as the main accommodation. On arrival offered a choice of rooms - which we could look at and decide Decent tea and coffee in room Plenty of light, and lights. Proper pottery mugs for the drinks rather than paper cups. Everything else as you would expect of a well tended Motel. Definitely recommended
