This place is decent. The hygiene is pretty good, though the room is a bit small. That's understandable given that space is at a premium on Hong Kong Island. The price was great during the off-season, especially with fewer people around due to the typhoon. The guy at the front desk was very enthusiastic. It was drizzling all day, and because of the typhoon, the MTR to Hong Kong Island was temporarily shut down. I tried to hail a Didi for ages in the morning; taxis didn't want to go out because of the typhoon, and Didi drivers were price gouging, asking for HKD 300 or even HKD 500. Some even accepted the order but never showed up and didn't cancel. It wasn't even that far. Finally, an uncle accepted the order and showed up in the rain, and he didn't even charge extra! I couldn't believe it, he was a truly honest person. The wind and rain weren't even that bad, and there were few cars on the road. I chatted with the driver; he spoke Cantonese, and we spoke Mandarin, but we could mostly understand each other. Older people are often more down-to-earth. The driver was over 50, born in Hong Kong, with ancestral roots in Guangdong. His daughter is still young. It's not easy for men to provide for their families. We arrived at the hotel quickly, and the fare was HKD 123. We gave the driver a 10 RMB note as a tip to thank him.

I'm really questioning their cleaning standards. While the room visually appeared clean, I found previous guests' hair on the bedding, which was quite off-putting. Also, an already opened coffee packet from the previous guest was just left on the desk, untouched. This makes me seriously doubt if they even clean thoroughly between guests, and I'm very suspicious about whether the linens are actually changed. On top of that, the bathroom setup is really impractical; the sink is so high that anyone who isn't tall or an adult would have a hard time washing their hands or face.

Excellent stay! The front desk lady was incredibly helpful; she saw us with large luggage and proactively offered to assist. We even left a necklace behind when checking out, and she kindly left a note to remind us. The room was compact but well-equipped. Most importantly, the hotel's location is fantastic – a mere 200 meters from the subway station. Downstairs, the area is bustling with snack shops, a McDonald's, and local 'bing sutt' style cafes. The price is reasonable, and unlike some older tenement buildings, the hotel isn't rundown. The corridors were also quite clean and well-maintained. The only drawback is the lack of an elevator, but that was manageable. Overall, a very pleasant two-night stay. I would definitely choose this place again on my next visit because it's such great value for money, especially at just over HKD 300 per night during the August peak season. I genuinely recommend it to anyone on a budget!

Two segments ie mingle by the park is heritage while the star is modernist - rooms are small but adequate! I like the rooftop space as you see old HK in 80s. The restaurants are niche and good! There is wanchai park behind the hotel!

I loved my room with the little terasse, the area is quiet, but everything is nearby, the staff is very helpful, just the wifi could work better, but there is a projector and the bathroom is very nice.

I wasn’t happy at all. Mold, leakage and super thin walls.

Upon entering the room, I was quite startled to see a large cockroach. However, the place has a very local vibe, and I can understand how it might have slipped in through a gap in the door. I booked this room after seeing it on Xiaohongshu, and the lack of an elevator is indeed a bit of a hassle. But the scenery on the way here was pleasant, and there's a really delicious breakfast spot downstairs nearby.

A charming guesthouse with a Hong Kong flair, it offered a lovely view, and I particularly enjoyed the small balcony. However, getting to and from the room was quite inconvenient. The elevator is located on the far side of the building, and even then, it only reaches the 7th floor, requiring guests to descend 4 flights of stairs to get to the accommodation. I opted for the staircase near the entrance instead, which still meant climbing 3 flights. Fortunately, I only had a backpack; I strongly advise anyone with heavy or multiple pieces of luggage to choose carefully. The space itself was adequate for a single person, but the wash basin was truly a nightmare. Squeezed between two load-bearing pillars, it was probably only 30cm wide, forcing you to turn sideways just to wash your hands. Washing your face was a real struggle. To make matters worse, if the tap was turned on too high, the floor drain couldn't cope and would leak water onto the floor. I'm stopping my complaints here!

Amazing

Located at Wan Chai, one of the main living area at island.
Since it was operated by renovation of old house, there are no evaluator at main living building and reception is actually ground floor of building nearby, but they try the best to make them connected by rooftops as public garden and bridge.
They make very effective use for space, as there is a pillar at the middle of single room. anyway I think it is good enough for daily lives and the price.
Recommended, if you do not need too much space with luxurious.
Wish coming here again!

I stayed at Mingle by the Park in Hong Kong and was disappointed overall.
The room was extremely small—barely enough space to move around. The sink was tiny, about the size of a hand. The air conditioner blew directly onto the bed, and because of the cramped layout, there was no way to reposition it. The interior felt very old and worn out. I found trash under the bed and saw cockroaches both behind the bed and near the fridge. The main building has no elevator, which made carrying bags up the stairs a hassle. Also, the walls are paper thin—you can hear everything from the neighboring rooms.
On the plus side, the price was lower than most hotels in Hong Kong. It also had a narrow balcony and a small rooftop area with a few chairs and tables. The location in Wan Chai was convenient.
That said, the conditions are so basic and rough that it makes more sense to stay at a hostel. You’ll likely get a similar setup for less money, and possibly a better social experience.

The staff are the pinnacle of hospitality.
There is a common area work a microwave as well as computers.
The rooftop is also lovely.
Single room balcony is big but faces buildings
Table is by the door, not ideal.
Double room balcony faces the street but is minimal.
Table is by the balcony. Rather pleasant as a workspace.
Sound travels.
No elevator.
Slightly rustic but it adds to its niche almost shanghai tang retro vibe.
A very special little gem.

A very very small room for this price. no lift so it is very hard for me with leg injuries. it is about 10 to 15 min walk to MTR so not that convenient. In the old neighborhood, tons of cock roaches in the street at night time, good that none in the building. when I first walked in, I was overwhelmed by the smoky smell. No smoking? must be a joke to some tenants. I am very sensitive to smoking smell, so I felt nauseated. from the lobby to my room is like a mace race, you need a map to do that, very difficult for me with crutches. I won't stay here again.... unless it is less than HKD150 and I run out of money.... 🤣 🤣
