Great location (however there is no public transport you need your own) set on the edge of a golf course in the countryside. There are also lodges for hire if you would prefer, all in nice rural settings. Housekeeping staff run by Wes are really good and accommodating. Nothing is too much trouble for Wes. A great welcome from the reception staff. Suzy has been very helpful on a number of occasions over the past 4 months or so. The rest of the staff, including the night security/reception man, are all polite and helpful. All in all, I have had many great stays at this hotel and lodges.

Things were going ok until the fire alarm went off at 4am, the next morning I was told a guest had set this off, I totally understand that is out of their control, but my issue comes with it going off for over an hour because the staff on shift were unable to turn this off, this is down to a training issue, and no offer of any kind of compensation was made, in fact it was refused. We have the same fire system at work, and it’s more than possible to have training on using it, so it can be reset in the event of a mistaken alarm. I can’t rate it any higher as you pay for a good’s night sleep, and 2 kids crying at 4am because they got dragged out of bed and couldn’t go back to sleep because of the constant alarm sounding means we had a terrible night. Training should be provided to all hotel staff that are on shift to be able to reset the alarm system. It is achievable and should have been. A good will gesture would have made the pill easier to swallow, but that never came.

Due to a death in the family we have stayed at the hotel and the caravan park. The hotel is a bit basic but it was only for us to get our head down. The rooms could do with having more sockets I would suggest taking an extension lead. But the staff on the reception was outstanding very very good. 5***** I would suggest checking availability in the caravan park if you were staying more than three nights in a row as sometime this can work out cheaper and you are also getting a larger space to be in, i.e. kitchen and bedrooms etc. Ronnie Bullock

AVOID! It’s dirty and they don’t treat animals well! Disgusting and reported to the local council. They leave dirty laundry in corridors and the walls need touching up. They don’t deal with complaints very well and even if a hotel broker gets involved

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, the experience fell well below expectations due to a number of serious issues. Firstly, the general condition of the hotel requires attention. The public corridors had visible damage to the walls, and housekeeping trolleys filled with dirty bed linen were left in these areas for extended periods, creating an unclean and unpleasant environment. In the room itself, the bathroom bin was rusty and the foot pedal to open it was broken. Additionally, there were only two power sockets available in the entire room — an inconvenience when trying to use essentials such as the fan and kettle while also needing to charge devices, especially when the sockets were located far from the bed. However, the most concerning issue was a serious animal welfare matter. One evening, a cat was reported to hotel security after being seen shut inside a van in the car park. The registration number was provided. Shockingly, the next morning the cat was still inside the same van, with no ventilation, windows, or visible air flow — despite outside temperatures reaching 18°C. This situation is potentially life-threatening for an animal in an enclosed vehicle. When I raised this with the duty manager, she was unaware of the report from the previous night. I was assured that staff would door-knock all rooms, which they did, but I was then confronted by a rude and dismissive member of staff who claimed, “it’s a camper van, the cat is fine.” Regardless of the type of vehicle, it was a standard van with no windows in the rear, no ventilation, and clearly not an appropriate environment for any animal to be left inside. This dismissive attitude towards animal welfare was deeply troubling. As a result, both the RSPCA and local police were informed, as this may constitute an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, specifically Section 4 (unnecessary suffering) and Section 9 (failure to ensure welfare needs are met). I expect much higher standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and basic duty of care from any hotel. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and implement proper training and procedures to prevent such failures from occurring again.

100% re-visit. The staff here are top class amazing. Everyone seems like they know you already. They're all welcoming, super helpful and friendly. They made the trip. We asked about the driving range at 22.30 and they kept it open for us to play. The rooms are fresh and clean. Weirdly numbered but we finally found room 25 next to 14. The food was good. Nice surroundings. Evening entertainment. Great for kids. Countryside around is lovely. We didn't go to play golf so I can't comment on the course.
