A good place to stay
We stayed at Hotel Podhrad to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel is on th the expensive side, but in line with the surrounding options.
The parking areas available are scattered around, so be prepared to walk a bit in case the adjacent parking spots are taken.
The included breakfast was okay, but a bit lacking compared to other hotels we've been to in the Czech Republic.
The rooms are okay in general:
- There is no air conditioning.
- The water temperature in the shower seems to fluctuate and there is no holder for the shower head to comfortably wash your hair.
- The English TV channels, as few as they are, do not work.
- The pillows are very, very thin.
The included wellness amenities include a Finnish sauna, hot tub and small swimming pool. Massages are available at an extra cost and need to be scheduled in advance.

The manager of the hotel Karel Hájek is the worst hotel manager we have ever met. He is a rude, arrogant and disgusting oligarch loyally serving to the local political clique who owns almost everything in and around Hluboká. This person is not a hotel manager because of personal and organisational qualities but just because he is a horrible brown-noser eager for earning functions. Sorry to say that, but it's true.

Sind dort auf einen Latte Macchiato und einen Capuccino trinken gewesen.Beide Getränke ungeniessbar.War nur warmes Wasser mit etwas Kaffee.Habe den Capuccino zurück geben lassen,den Latte Macchiato nur nicht da meine Ehefrau sich geschämt hätte.Die Preise total überhöht.Totaler Schrott Kaffee.Unverschämtheit sowas anzubieten.Kann ich nicht empfehlen.

Very nice staff at the reception, in the restaurant and in the wellness area, absolute cleanliness throughout the hotel. Breakfast varied, dinner very tasty. The wellness area is small, but absolutely sufficient, only a reservation is required in advance. We would love to come back and recommend the hotel.

We stayed at the Podhrad for 2 nights on a visit to Hluboka. We chose the hotel because they hosted our wedding reception a few years ago and once again we were met with a warm welcome and great service. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are excellent; well equipped and comfortable for an excellent night's sleep. Breakfast is tasty and varied, with all the food being very well presented. The hotel also has a wellness facility which we used for the inclusive one hour - it needs to be booked at busier times but has a lovely sauna, jacuzzi and small pool with a current so despite it's size you can still have an energetic swim. Again, the wellness is very clean and slippers and robes are provided. The staff are polite and helpful, special mention for Lucie who once again made us feel very welcome. Thank you Hotel Podhrad, we can't wait to visit again soon

The room smelled really bad when we entered it, over time it got better.
The pool was by reservation for 1 hour with very limited spot, This is not mentioned on the website during reservation.
