We were looking for a family lunch and found the gold pot here. What a fantastic quality and taste. In fact too good to tell anyone, so keep it a secret. Everyday you’ll get two different main dishes -one consisting of fish, the other one meat. You’ll get at least 2-3 sides and a massive salad buffet. Drinks (water and some juice concentrate) included. You also get a coffee and a selection of cookies and/or kanelbullar. We went there at least 5 times because it is something in it for everyone in the family. They have children for 50% of the regular price (SEK 139:-, as at 2024-08).

Hotel Bellevue is situated on the picturesque Lake Vättern. The room was well lit and clean. The bathroom was in good condition - the shower pressure was really good. The bed was comfortable. Worth a walk around the area - very pretty! The major downfall was the temperature in the room - it was very warm and because of the direction of the sun, it was hard to cool down for a good sleep.

Hotel offers fantastic view of the lake Vättern, located just by the city park, offering good opportunities for walks or runs along the lake. Rooms are small, but offer desk and comfy chair. Beds are on the hard side, but with a multitude of pillow. Judging by other reviews we must have stayed in a room with renovated bathrooms - ours was up to date. Cleaning, however, was not on par - we had to remind to get our room cleaned and still was not properly done. Restaurant food had its ups and downs - very good fish as main course for our pre-ordered 3 course menu. But starter and dessert where minimal and sloppily put together. Breakfast on the good side, with all hot and cold foods as expected. Plus for both pancakes and waffles. Service in bar in restaurant is young and inexperienced, with many mistakes and odd behavior. Even if there was a full restaurant, we had to look for someone to serve drinks at the bar after dinner. Worth noting is that the restaurant gets rather noisy as there is not much in terms of textile to reduce noise level. Plus for free parking just in front of hotel. Sorry to say this hotel is not more than average given its fantastic location.

This hotel is okay for a short stay. But there are many issues that make the stay lacking. We are here in February 2022, low season, and it is clear that they are very short on staff. And that maintenance is behind massively. For example: in the bathroom, the water isn’t draining really well and streams under the door. The shower isn’t always really warm and suddenly turns too hot. We are staying for 3 nights and every morning I hang up “please clean my room” but there has been no cleaning at all! During breakfast the eggs were not properly cooked, the hard boiled once even the egg white were still runny and the soft boiled ones didn’t see the boiling water. Also I find the bistro menu very poor. Somebody with a fish and shell fish allergy didn’t have much choice and it was way too expensive for the food served. We went to buy sandwiches at the supermarket after eten. The hotel feels nice, the beds are good and it is clean but they really need to invest in details and personnel to make it worth the money.
