Hotels with Breakfast in Hikkaduwa

We arrived early at the hotel before the room was ready but the staff were helpful. They upgraded our room and got us in two hours before the check in! The staff were all polite and helpful, from the cleaner who made our towels into lovely animal designs to the bar staff who remembered what drinks we liked and even the security staff who showed us the parrots 🦜 under the trees at night. The food was lovely with a mix of European and Sri Lankan cuisine with friendly waiting staff bringing our drinks. The location is also good with access to the wonderful turtle beech directly from the hotel which was a highlight of the stay! The only slight negative was the bathrooms in the hotel could have done with a little modernising. Overall a fantastic hotel experience that I would recommend 👌

Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel is located at one of the best spots on the Hikkaduwa Beach. The view from our premier ocean suite room was breathtaking. Their newly renovated rooms were very spacious, minimalistic and tastefully done. Few minor issues were there which were immediately taken note of by Mr. Robert and looked into on priority. Staff were very courteous and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Special mention to Mr. Sivashan who took care of our every need right from booking, to airport transfers, meal options, local guidance, ensuring the pool renovation was done speedily and arranging a day tour to the Sinharaja Rain Forest, thank you@Sivashan for all your help 🙏🏽. Their food was delicious with a good variety of dishes from Western and local cuisines. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel as it ticks all the boxes for us - location, scenery, comfort, good food, service and total value for money.

In July 2024, I spent several days in this hotel. In general, I liked everything, except for some moments. I'll start with the good: excellent location, opposite a supermarket, and nearby there are many shops and benches, a gorgeous view from the window of the ocean, decent breakfasts, a clean pool, the staff's willingness to help at any time, delicious dishes to order from the menu, well-groomed territory. What I didn’t like: the rooms are already tired, they need updating, I lived in room 513. The pool is open until 19.00, which is not at all convenient, because after dinner you also want activity... but there is none)

Hikkaduwa Saffron Hotel was the first hotel on our trip, so I took a lot of thoughts when choosing it. Those who like antique hotels, please come, the cabinet bed, Luohan bed desk, meet all your requirements for retro quality, full of ancient flavor. However, modern washing and air-conditioning facilities will not make you feel that life is inconvenient, and we chose the second floor room, which is super large and has a good view. When we wanted to change to a double bed, we added a single bed for free without saying anything, so we had a good rest. The service of the hotel is very good, we go snorkeling after checking out, and we can go back to the hotel to take a shower. The disadvantage is that the price is small and expensive.

The hotel is on Hikkaduwa Beach, about 20 kilometers from the ancient city of Galle. The scenery is incomparable, the swimming pool is beautiful, the rooms on the second floor are almost facing the sea, and the first floor is facing the pool ... the gym equipment is a bit behind ... the breakfast is good, the local meals are mainly ... Dinner buffet at 2,000 rupees per person ... the staff are welcoming ... the surrounding facilities are convenient and the fishery is spectacular, a ten minute walk from the Hikkaduwa bus station train station ... it is very convenient to go to Galle and Colombo ... the most important thing is that the domestic uncles and aunts are very Less ... highly recommended!

After our roundtrip we had 8 days to relax. We got an upgrade to King Suite due to our long stay (thank you so much!!) and really loved this room on the 2nd floor. Rooms are clean and (speaking about the Suite) spacious. There are overall 6 rooms (three 1st floor, three 2nd floor). Great pool, makes it possible to train (if you really want to - during your holidays). Staff is extremely friendly and attentive, Reception, Pool and technical service (thanks, Sugath for preparing the sunbeds every day at the newly built umbrella on the beach) were great, Restaurant service (the two young guys were amazing), Kitchen (we never went out for dinner because the food in restaurant was so good) - the cook was recommending a dish every day - and surprised us with different preparations. Extra wishes no problem. Manager Warna always had time for a chat and made us feel welcome. Please allow us one hint: the Bathroom could be renovated a little bit (for example the blinds between the bathroom and the sleeping room) It was in a way like being part of the family for those 8 days. Thanks also for the opportunity to stay in the room until the evening of the departure day - free of charge - this is not a given. Location is a bit outside of Hikkaduwa (roundabout 25 min. beach walk to turtle point) but not too far - Tuk Tuk or even walkintg to the center no problem. Perfect for long walks on the beach. Sea is a bit rough but ”manageable”. We recommend this Hotel.

This hotel is one of the best we have stayed in and certainly the best we have stayed in during our 3 weeks in sri lanka. The service has been incredible throughout. The facilities are great and the hotel offers immediate access to the most beautiful golden beach with great waves to play in. The food is stunning. Would fully recommend this hotel.

The room given to me was very spacious, clean, well equipped and specially the toilet plus shower facility was commendable as it gives you an extra natural impression. Nipun, his wife, his mother and the girl who helps with the day-to-day work were all very attentive to take care of my requests and always available instantly. Easy access to beautiful beach, shops and restaurants. Even if one of the previous clients mentioned about the train track closeness and the noise, I found it's quiet and had a very good peaceful sleep during my stay of three nights. Had I had more days available, I'd have stayed more. I had the pleasure of having their home cooked tasty meals which was very nice and cheaper. They recommended me a very good reputed JLH Restaurant for lobsters and that was remarkable. All and all, I had a very pleasurable stay at Tamara Motels. Would not stay any other place when I'm in Hikkaduwa again.

We stayed for 2 nights in rooms 210 and 212 from December 26 to 28, and it was a complete waste of money. Recycled Food in Buffet: The dinner buffet had the same items as the next day’s breakfast and dinner. It felt like leftover food was being reused across multiple meals, which is completely unacceptable. Uncleaned Mugs and Cups: The mugs and cups in the rooms were dirty and not properly cleaned, raising hygiene concerns. Dirty Pillows and Towels: Pillows and towels had stains, and even the replacements provided were visibly dirty, with patches and marks. Rusty and Smelly Bathroom: The bathroom was in terrible condition—rusty fixtures, dirty surfaces, and a strong unpleasant odor. It was impossible to use the bathroom comfortably. Unsealed Water Bottles: The water bottles provided were unsealed, looking like they were refilled, which is highly concerning from a hygiene perspective. Non-Functional Locker: The in-room locker was rusty and didn’t work at all, making it completely useless. AC Turned Off: The air conditioning was inexplicably turned off on the second day at the buffet area leaving the room uncomfortably warm. Poor Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi was only functional inside the room and did not work anywhere else in the hotel, which was highly inconvenient. TV Remote Not Working: The TV remote didn’t work, which added to the frustration during our stay. Unfair Extra Charges: We were charged extra for room service when we simply asked for replacements for the dirty towels and cups. This was not something we ordered, but a basic necessity due to their negligence. No Toothbrush or Toothpaste: We were surprised to learn that the hotel doesn't provide basic essentials like toothbrush and toothpaste. When we asked, they told us they generally don't provide them. This is highly unusual as most other hotels provide these essentials as a standard service. Despite paying Rs150,000+, the experience was far below what should be expected from any hotel. The lack of cleanliness, subpar food hygiene, and additional, unfair charges left us deeply disappointed. Not recommended at all.
