Awful hotel? Breakfast was terrible rooms dirty small save your money

good. just one thing. staff knock the door when i leave. should be soft knock

If I could leave -5 stars review for this establishment that would still be far too generous After travelling for 4 hours, we arrived to find the hotel reception was locked and no member of staff in sight. After speaking to somebody over the phone, we were then told they’d be with us to help in 10 minutes. Half hour of sitting in the lobby later, a lady finally arrived, clearly very annoyed that she’d had to get back to work and actually do her job. When we finally managed to get into reception to try and check in, I was told that my booking did not exist, even though I’d made the booking 10 MONTHS prior to the date we were due to stay. Even after I produced the confirmation email of said booking to the miserable receptionist, along with proof of payment through my mobile banking app, she refused to acknowledge it as genuine and told me that I must’ve been scammed by a third party company. She then told me the details of my booking weren’t the correct details for their company, even after I phoned the number at the bottom of my confirmation email and it rang straight though to the phone sat directly behind her. I’d advise anyone considering staying with The Birch Hotel to save your money and your time and avoid it at all costs, the place is an absolute shambles.

This looks like it used to be a nice hotel at one time but is now tired. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room window where dirty and you couldn't see out of them which was a same The one thing that did concern us was the fire door to the stair well was held open with a wedge. We closed the door when we went to bed only to find all the fire doors held open with wedges when we went down to breakfast. We would stay again bearing in mind that there are no lifts in hotel

Cheap but okay The hotel room we stopped in was dated and the radiator would not turn off so we had to open the window, the bed was okay, I did sleep well after the room cooled down, the rest of the hotel looked okay to me , staff are friendly, at the end of the day it’s a low price so you get what you pay for, for the price I thinks it’s a good hotel.
