Windsor Hotel

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. Two bathrooms. All the kit you might need ( except a washing machine). Milk, cookies, chocolates, water, coffee, tea. There is a big Gas BBQ. Loads of cupboard space, comfortable beds. Daily maid service. You have access to a private garage. The apartments are very clean and well maintained. Ours overlooked the sea and we sat on the balcony watching whales. Don’t know what else to say really, other than this is an excellent place to stay in Hermanus, handy for the centre.

When booking we asked about wheelchair accessibility and were told they were “fully compliant”. We asked specifically about “grab bars” in the shower and at the toilet and were told they had them. We were extremely disappointed to find that really the only accessible part of the hotel is that there are no stairs to some of the rooms and there are ramps in the passage instead of stairs. That’s where it ended. They advertise themselves as wheelchair accessible but you really have great difficulty getting a wheelchair into the bathroom, no grab bars in the shower or at the loo. They put a chair in the shower on request but my husband couldn’t get in to the shower because he had nothing to hold on to. He couldn’t reach the soap container at the basin, and the mirror at the basin is too high. Our feeling is that they haven’t actually consulted anybody who is actually in a wheelchair and the only thing they thought about was flat surfaces to get to the room. Absolutely nothing else has been considered. Very disappointing.

What a lovely mini getaway. We were made to feel so welcome, the service was great and the room - sea-facing - was so comfortable and clean. Breakfast was fantastic and, here again, the service was outstanding - everyone was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back again!

Stayed here previously in 2017. Loved it then, even better now, as has had a bit of a refurbishment. Great views of the ocean. Lovely, cosy, old-fashioned hotel, great location and friendly staff. Unfortunately, as in 2017, the weather was too poor for our Whale watching boat trip to go ahead. We did see some whales in the far distance from our hotel room though. If the weather had been better, we are sure we would have seen more. Really like this hotel and recommend it for a traditional, comfortable stay in the lovely resort of Hermanus. No lunch or dinners served at the hotel - highly recommend going to Fisherman's Cottage, just round the corner, for a really nice meal in a traditional, cosy setting. We have been twice, but book in advance as it is a small, popular venue and gets booked up quickly.

Awesome experience and view. The staff were absolutely terrific, efficient, friendly. Slept very well in a very comfortable bed. Room had coffee and tea making facilities with a fridge. All dstv channels etc. Breakfast was amazing with so much choice

Wow, what a nice apartment with anything you need and opposite the ocean, all with secured parking and even garages. Everything was great!

My daughter and I wanted a 'get away' over night stay while she was visiting Cape Town. We know Hermanus well, but this was our first stay at Windsor Apartments. The apartment fitted our requirements perfectly. It was comfortable, well appointed and spotlessly clean. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The view was wonderful and there were even whales in the bay. We will definitely book there again.
