Enormous bedroom (Norfolk Suite). Once used by the Duke of Norfolk I believe. Four poster bed which was very comfortable. Bathroom came with chandelier and TV over the spa bath. Lots of mirrors. Nice view towards Hereford from our room. Very quiet location with large gardens. Local pub is a 5 minute walk and served great food. Excellent breakfast. Pool table in reception area. Maintenance has been a little neglected, but this is reflected in the price. Room was very well presented and very clean. Would love to stay again.

It was dirty. Carpets rucked and stained. Furniture old and dirty. No heating the extra heater provided in the room did not work either. Sheets thin old and dirty. Mold on the walls. Window frames chipped and dirty. Paintwork chipped and dirty. Bathroom tiles cracked.

Went to a wedding and omg it was awful. First here comes the soup I asked for the vegatarian option but it had chunks of beef in it. So I called a waitress who said she would strain it omg did she think I was going to eat it 🤔. Then her comes my main 😳 chicken again I had asked for veggie option so it wax taken away and I received some mushrooms 🍄. Then the desert was berry's well red currants not witj anything else omg the whole experience was a farce from start to finish shocking.

The few staff are friendly and helpful, but the reception desk is not used - pressing the bell results in somebody emerging after a minute or so. The room we had was perfectly fine, if a little dated and showing its age, and very spacious, in the wing with the large pergola in front to the left of the main building. There was no room wifi in the wing, it being available only in main reception. The grounds have not been maintained for a long while and are becoming overgrown. The 'beautiful fountain' and the ponds are dry, there are last season's leaves lying around and overgrown paths, bushes and steps. The bar is not used, being closed shut with cable ties and looking forlorn. The lounge is comfortable with fresh flowers on display filling the air with their scent. Breakfast is buffet-style continental and English. Toast has to be ordered by ringing the bell. It's reasonable value for what it is but don't take too much notice of the hotel website. The best word to describe the establishment is 'weird'. It was an amusing and comfortable stay for unexpected reasons! Expect to be able to dine out afterwards on tales of your experience ;-). A short walk of less than ten minutes takes you to a nearby pub, the Secret Garden. Food is OK, people are chatty and there is an extensive and well maintained outside area. The ales on hand pump are from the local Wobbly Brewery which would be fine except that they were all served in very poor condition.

I will always begin with a positive, we slept well.
Unfortunately, this is the only positive comment I can make regarding our stay at Munstone House Hotel.
On arrival, we weren't greeted by anyone. There was no one present at reception for 20 minutes when we arrived at 4:00pm check-in. When a member of staff finally occurred, we were told bluntly that we had not paid for our stay. Which we had. The member of staff then requested that we send her a copy of our bank statement to her personal telephone as proof. This was alarming as this is considered a breach of GDPR. Some 50 minutes after our initial arrival, the member of staff finally concluded that we had paid for our room. We had a table booked at a local restaurant. Therefore we were late for our pre-booked evening meal.
Our initial interaction with the hotel struck us as a extremely unprofessional and unfriendly establishment. This continued when we entered our room for the night and were horrified by dusty and dirty surfaces. That had clearly not been cleaned for sometime.
We’ll move onto breakfast. We were told that breakfast would be served between 8 and 9am. Again, when we arrived at breakfast there was no one there. The cereal bowls were flithy, with what seemed to be fly droppings on them, juice glasses that stuck to the table and only 3 cups on the serving table if guests wanted coffee (there was no tea).
To conclude, I would NEVER recommend a stay at Munstone House Hotel. EXTREMELY DISSAPPOINTING.

Make sure the heating works before ravelling.
Gas ran out on day 2 so no heating for 2 days which was replaced by electric convection heaters. These tripped the consumer units every 5 minutes. Breakfast was poor, I’d finished the self serve before someone came out and offered me tea and toast. If they’ve got gas, may be ok but my trip was abysmal.

My room stunk of cigarette smoke, which they appeared to have tried to mask with the abundance of toxic plug in air fresheners.
