Travelodge Hotel - Hereford

I see this Travelodge has great reviews but my experience wasn't great. First the good points. Hereford is a lovely city (best place to eat in the daytime is Bill's Kitchen which is set in a church). And if you love the countryside you don't need to travel far for truly fantastic scenery. The Travelodge is in a good position within the city, very close to shops etc. In fact, if you're on the back side, you'll get a marvellous view of Sainsbury's..And amazingly the car parking is free. I'd booked two nights there. So what went wrong? There are two floors. I was on the first floor but the noise above was dreadful. Every stomp on the floor above was ridiculously loud and continuous to the point that it sounded like several people might be stomping around. I thought it would die down a bit as the evening wore on but it didn't and I knew it would keep me awake. The good news is that I asked to be moved to the second floor, as far away from the person who was making the noise. Luckily this was arranged. One thing I was pleased to see was that the windows were openable - in many hotels it looks like they might open a bit but the opening mechanism never works. In this hotel, it worked and let in a lovely breeze in ridiculously hot weather. But unfortunately unless you would like to be woken for the whole of the night by extremely loud screeching seagulls, you will end up closing them or being driven potty. If you like a clean car, prepare for mucho seagull poo on the bonnet etc. Seems weird that there are so many seagulls in a city. The hotel itself? I didn't think it was particularly spotless, but it wasn't bad either. There was a bit of shouting outside the hotel late at night. In case you're wondering, the seagull issue affects the Premier Inn too. There is no escape! Would I go back to the Travelodge? I might. The receptionist was kind enough to move me re the noise so many thanks for that. Then again, with the money I'd save by booking the Travelodge instead of the Premier Inn (which I've also been to and would give a higher rating), I could afford to buy a decent pair of earplugs and keep the window open into the bargain! Yay! But then again, I wouldn't have Waitrose right opposite as it is at the Premier Inn. And sad as it seems, and as snobby as I am, Waitrose cheers me up no end!

Outside very noisey people shouting and arguing car alarms going off twice. Would not recommend if u want to relax and sleep any night

Easy check in . Clean room, clean crisp bed sheets. Easy check out. Plenty of parking space didn't give 10/10 due to the noise outside the hotel .

We stayed at the travellodge hereford for a 3 night break eden was very nice and friendly thehotel is in a great location nice and clean and very friendly staff we would recommend the travellodge to our family and friends

Rooms were clean and spacious. Central location so easy to walk into attractions in Hereford. Main bonus at the hotel is staff - friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful

Brilliant very professional and welcoming room was lovely and clean would definitely stay here again very close to the town
