Nice stay, lots to do!

solo, staying for business. As well as filling in a form on arrival (duplicated info from when I booked online), the Spa needed me to... complete a form. This form indeed me to write down my next of kin. However I dont have a next of kin. When I told the spa receptionist this, it seemed this was no good. No next of kin...no entry I was told. But I dont have a next of kin. I buried them earlier this year. This is getting very distressing for me... but still "no next of kin, no entry". I was getting upset. But he wouldnt let me in UNLESS I completed the next of kin. For a swim... And honestly, what are you going to do with this data?? In an emergency, are you NOT going to call am ambulance, but the next of kin?? "hi its spa reception. Your partner has had a heart attack. Yes it looks serious. Would you like to me call an ambulance?? I joke, but it was very distressing and upsetting for me. You simply shouldnt need to ask, or collect that data about me. And undertsand that some of us are own our own,

Clean bright accommodation….food was delicious helpful hotel staff and Zoe and her team in the clubhouse was amazing. Never any issues always there to help and they are an asset. Golf courses was lovely had couple of bad days weather wise. But 25 lads went and 25 came back happy. Many thanks and we will be back

The hotel, grounds and rooms were very good but where the hotel fell short was the service. If something went wrong, promises were made but rarely delivered. Some of the staff were good but those were the exception rather than the rule. I had a traumatic time whilst at the hotel because my husband was taken into hospital at the beginning of our stay so my stay involved being at the hospital most of the time and hardly ever at the hotel. I was a long way from home and felt very alone and expected some empathy and action from the hotel staff regarding some issues I had raised. Due to my husband being in hospital I extended my stay at the full hotel rate and ended up spending a week there. On leaving the hotel some issues were still outstanding and some issues I thought were relevant to tell management so they could help make improvements going forward. Me and my husband spoke with Garreth Jones (customer relations manager) who seemed very empathetic to our traumatic time and the fact that, in essence, our holiday experience had been nonexistent. So, due to the hotel’s short comings, he said he would put a “package” together so we could come back to the hotel and have a good experience. I was not expecting an offer like this but since we had paid a lot of money for a hotel, breakfast and spa experience and my husband had hardly any breakfast during the stay and neither of us ever got to use the spa facilities over the week, I thought he was seeing the bigger picture of making up for staff shortcomings and also being kind on a human level. He said leave it with me and he would email when he had sorted it out. I expected to receive details of the package fairly quickly, but after prompting he came back over a week later with an offer of a overnight stay. I was not very impressed with this because this did not sound like a well thought out “package” to me but rather a flippant gesture that we would probably not take up because of the distance we would have to travel from home or, if we did, to make it worthwhile, we would need to extend our stay and hence spend a lot of money again at the hotel. If that was the “package” I have to ask myself why was it not offered straight away while we were actually there face to face. I emailed my disappointment to Garreth, but no response. So although the venue is very good the staff do not do it justice and so it is definitely overpriced for what you actually experience
