A group of us stopped off here whilst on a charity bike ride. We stayed in the hostel across the road, but had a few drinks in the bar the night we arrived and had breakfast the next morning before we set off again. Couldn’t fault the place. The staff were so accommodating and welcoming. Never been here before, but would love to stay at this hotel in the future.

Booked this for my wife's birthday - not far from Sycamore Gap and Hadrian's Wall. Booked for Lunch at 1 pm. Went through the front door, and it's a little gem of a place. The lad behind the bar was polite and engaging, as was the girl serving us. As for the food, three courses for £20... wow. I think if you paid £40, you would be happy, as they were stunning. A few local people were returning and trying the menu to exhaust their options. I live an hour away, and we are both looking at when we could come back - Trip Advisor gave it 4.8 out of 5. That's why we chose it, but the experience was an absolute joy with friendly staff, and they made a great effort for my wife's birthday too. Great professional staff, great food, well worth the money. Have recommended to many others and will be back.

We had had couple of poor experiences on previous visits and Elise had given us a voucher as compensation. WE dined there on Saturday and guess what the food, the service and the ambience were all excellent. The lamb was superb and the belly pork was fabulous. We had the ham hock terrine, excellent and Stick toffee pudding as desert - WOW! Many thanks.

Great place to stay - lovely clean room with modern bathroom! Food was excellent and the flight of beer fantastic! Really made to feel welcome and the dogs enjoyed the visit too. Would highly recommend to any age group - perfectly placed for the Wall and not too far from the North Lakes :)

We were supposed to be camping elsewhere the night we ended up staying at the hotel. Instead, because of bad weather we decided to get a room. The staff were so incredibly kind and accommodating to us two bedraggled hikers. They let us store our bags before we checked in, so we were more free to explore the area without carrying things around. Every member of staff we spoke to was kind, welcoming and friendly. The room was spotless and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We had dinner at the restaurant in the evening and it was lovely. Well worth the money. The breakfast in the morning was also perfection. Thank you for such an amazing stay, I hope we will be back one day.

An excellent hotel , great value for money . Lovely rooms . Excellent food. Service was great . Special mention for Charlotte, Dan , Hannan and Lindsey who all looked after us so well . Great location for walking the walk and visits to Roman Museums.

Fantastic hotel great value for money. Room & food top quality. Breakfast amazing. Staff really friendly made to feel welcome. Highly recommend. Would highly recommend area for walks Hadrian’s wall Roman forts especially Vindolanda
