Hampton Inn & Suites Rochester/Henrietta

This Hampton is in a nice location by many restaurants, stores or whatever else you may need. Rooms are clean and quiet. I would stay here again. The only thing unusual about this Hampton is the customer service is not what you usually see at a Hilton property. There is no welcome when you arrive. I arrived to 2 employees complaining about another employee that continued through the whole check in. Stayed here 5 nights. Never heard a good morning or hello from any of the employees. I said good morning the first morning and the woman at the desk literally made a grunting noise in response. I would still stay here again cause I don’t need a lot of interaction or pampering, but it was definitely a different vibe than other Hilton properties I have stayed at.

We stayed just one night at the BW Rochester Marketplace Inn and that was good enough for me. The pros--the staff were very friendly and the rooms were (mostly updated). It's in a good location, just a few minutes off I-90, but in an area with a lot of restaurants and shopping. Breakfast was good (although crazy crowded)--it included eggs, bacon, waffle maker, bagels, muffins, cereal and fruit. The cons--the rooms were only mostly updated...my bathroom had peeling wallpaper and the fixtures were rusty. I didn't love that. Also, it was very, very noisy. We had some sort of sports teams staying in the hotel and they were running through the hallways and loud in the rooms around me until very late. and then the fire alarm went off early in the morning. Needless to say, we didn't get a lot of sleep and were actually on the road two hours earlier than planned.

Because I had to drive back to Boston, I found this place to rest for one night. It was a very clean, quiet and elegant hotel. I highly recommend it. If you come here to visit schools, it is a good choice. It is not far from the Great Falls, and it takes an hour to drive.
Holiday Inn & Suites Rochester - Marketplace

From the curb this looks like a new or refreshed hotel. The reality is the facade is just that: a facade. Outside of the exterior and the lobby, the rest is a tired, old hotel. You can't easily use luggage carts because of the small elevators, doors to hallways and narrow entranceways. Ceilings are 1970s or 1980s style drop-down ceilings. Hallways are dark. Rooms received a superficial refresh but the TV is from 2011 -- as in 10 years ago -- and the bathroom is NOT refreshed. Mold and mildew in shower. No central lighting. Instead, my room had FIVE different light switches. Basically, this is an OLD 1970s or 1980s Holiday Inn with a facade update. The pool is closed, except to rooms with 2 or more guests. If you're solo you can't use the pool. There's no bar and no restaurant, despite advertising. Similarly, they sell breakfast packages but there's no breakfast because the restaurant is closed. I went to the front desk and asked for a wine glass from the bar and was told they wouldn't get one. Zero IHG elite status recognition. No local newspaper nor any local information, including restaurants. You are better off staying at the Best Western a block way. This is a dumpy old Holiday Inn providing less services and amenities than a Holiday Inn Express.

Great hotel. Clean, and very helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is varied, and fresh, with a friendly M-F person in charge of it. I would prefer that they stick with Frosted Flakes, “for the kids”, because the Fruit Loops are full of artificial dyes, which aren’t good for anyone. Also have Raisin Bran, and other choices, more for adults. Do wish the baked goods offered at breakfast were fresher. Dunkin’ and Tops are very close, so maybe they can buy fresher baked goods there. All of the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, but several stand out, Matthew, Holden, and some women whose names I don’t know. Matthew even provided me with a box and shipping tape, when I mentioned I needed to send some overflow items home. The cleaning staff is amazing. They are very friendly and helpful. I hope they have chances for advancement in the company. The ones I had contact with were working so hard, whether dealing with laundry, trash, or preparing and cleaning rooms for guests. Overall, have had great stays at this hotel. The only caveat are the number of dogs, which hopefully I’m not placed near to, due to their barking, and my allergies.
Comfort Suites Rochester Henrietta University Area

Nice looking hotel. Easy check in. Nice size rooms. Comfortable bed. Quiet, I slept well. Our room had king size bed, sofa/sleeper, small refrigerator, microwave, small TV, 2 drawers in dresser, desk, and table with 2 chairs. One of two bedside wall lamps was missing. There were sufficient electrical outlets and USB ports. The room was very clean. The notebook about the hotel was missing all of its pages. There is only one ice machine in the hotel and it was out of service during our stay, note on it indicated it was awaiting service. The bathroom was adequate size. Nicely arranged, with large counter space. Hair dryer on the wall. Shower/ bathtub combo. Plenty of hot water. The shower head had more than one spray setting. Typical cheap hotel quality toilet paper. No exhaust fan. Morning breakfast was sp****. Scrambled eggs and what I think was soggy french toast sticks, white bread & 2 types of bagels, 1 apple, 6 types of Kellogg cereals, boiled eggs, 3 types of juice (they were out of orange juice), coffee, and milk (they ran out of milk while I was there, both 1% & 2%). I went to breakfast at about 7:45 a.m., with breakfast being served 6:00 - 9:00 on the day I was there. Weekends have a later serving time. Room capacity was more than adequate, wasn't busy, but could hold a good number of people. Located next to the hotel is a Cracker Barrel restaurant. There is also a gas station right across the road. I tried hard to give a 4 star review, knowing their staff level is likely inadequate. It was between a 3 and 4, until I went to breakfast and the sp**** offerings and missing items and insufficient supplies tipped it to the 3 star. But, overall, I would stay here again.
